S.O. 671(E).-ln exercise of the powers conferred by sub-se~on (3) of section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) bereinafter referred to as -the said Act, the Central Government hereby constitutes the Loss of Ecolcgy (p:evention and Payments of Compensation) Autho.rity 'for the State of Tamil Namn6nsisting of l1'le following members for a period oYtwe years on in.afrom the date of publication cfthis notification in the Official Gazette, namely:-

2 _ The Authority shall exercise the following powers and perform- the following functions, namely :-(i) exercise of powers lhider section S of the said Act, for issuing directions and for taI9Jig measures with respect to
