King Hassan II Great World Water Prize는 모로코 정부와 세계물위원회가 공동으로 제정한 상으로, 모로코의 하산 2세 국왕의 수자원 보호, 통합, 지속가능한 관리에 대한 전략적 비전을 기리기 위해 만들어졌습니다.
본 상은 3년마다 개최되는 세계물포럼에서 수여됩니다. 수상자는 트로피, 증서와 함께 미화 10만불을 상금으로 수령하게 됩니다.
2003년 교토, 2006년 멕시코, 2009년 이스탄불, 2012년 마르세이유에 이어, 2015년 대구경북 제7차 세계물포럼에서 5번째 시상식이 열립니다.
본 상의 주제는 “수자원 개발 및 이용에 있어서의 협력과 우수한 관리“입니다. 또한, 2015년 시상식에서는“ 전 지구적 변화에 직면하여 이룩한 물, 에너지, 위생 분야에서의 혁신”이라는 주제에 합당한 후보에게 상을 수여합니다.
