The Year of St. Joseph

Shepherds were not considered highly esteemed

members of society at the time of Jesus’ birth. They

were outside the peripheries of typical social circles,

living in the fields with their flocks. Yet, despite the

scruffy reputation and appearance, they were

welcomed into the cave at Bethlehem by Joseph and

Mary (Luke 2:16). This holy couple, exhausted from

the journey to Bethlehem and caring for a newborn in

very imperfect circumstances, exercised hospitality

towards the shepherds who God had invited to visit

the newborn King. Their hospitality opened up space

for their guests to encounter the

divine to glorify God.

Make plans to provide hospitality

sometime in the near future.

1st Holy Family Talks Series

Come and spend an afternoon with ST. JOSEPH! The first “Holy Family Talks Series” will take place Sunday, September 26 from 2-4 pm at the Tiffin Knights of Columbus Ballroom,

49 East Perry Street, Tiffin, Ohio.

Dr. John Wood starts with “The Virtues of St. Joseph” and Rev. Matthew Rader concludes with “Apostleship of Christian Family Life.” A short question and answer

opportunity follows each presentation.

Monday scripture study and communion services

We follow the school calendar. If school has been canceled for the day

due to weather, holidays, teacher’s meetings, etc.,

we will not have the scripture study/communion Service on that Monday.

If you ever have a question, please call the Parish Office. 419-294-

Is “The Word Amon Us”?

Invite Jesus into your heart in preparation for receiving Him in the Eucharist. Jesus is the Word. Accept His Gift, Himself. A deeper reflection on the Gospel will nourish your soul.

Starting with the September issue of “The Word Among Us” we are providing copies at church for your use. Specifically, we encourage you to reach out to other like-minded family and friends and schedule a weekly meeting to discuss the upcoming weekend Gospel readings.

Let us know when you are meeting so that Fr. Conrad or Deacon Kevin may drop in from time to time to share their additional insights.

This is sure to be a worthwhile and inspiring endeavor. You’ve heard it said, “You will only get out of it what you put into it.” But I say, you only need to offer a little of your time and God will bless you abundantly for it. He is our Heavenly Father Who knows how and wants to give us good gifts.

It’s as easy as

1, 2, 3, ...4.

Questions? Need more direction? Call the Parish Office at 419-294-1268. We can help.

1) Schedule the weekly meeting.

2) Provide a copy of “The Word Among Us” to each member of your group.

3) Follow through: meet, share coffee, say a prayer, take turns reading the Gospel and reflection, give everyone an opportunity to comment on what God is saying through His Word.

4) When you see Fr. Conrad (such as after Mass) let him know how it’s going and invite him to stop by.

R.C.I.A = Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

September is fast approaching and with it comes another season

for welcoming new Catholics into the church. We are all called to

evangelize. This can be simply living our faith well but as

opportunities arise and the Spirit moves us we should be more

explicit in inviting people "home". The RCIA program is a great

way to do this in a non-confrontational way.

If you saw a great movie or went to an outstanding restaurant you

would be anxious to tell others so they can share that

experience. Well there is no better story than that of our salvation

and there is not better meal than Jesus' Real Presence! Let's not

be stingy with the blessings we have been given.

Invite someone you know to come check out what the Catholic

Church really teaches. Objections to following the teaching of

Jesus through His church comes from false ideas about what we

believe. Let's let the Truth shine brightly.

For more information, call us at 419-294-1268.

Fellow Parishioners,

In Case You Missed It...

● We are still in need of volunteers for lunch and recess. It can be moms,

dads, sisters, uncles,

grandmas, we accept them all. Any way you can help out goes a long way

and we are extremely

grateful for all of the help we get. Please contact the school office if you

are interested in

helping during lunch and/or recess.

● Our first student-led liturgy took place on Wednesday with the 6th grade students leading the

celebration. Our next liturgy service will be Wednesday at 8:15 with 5th grade leading. There

are no longer any seating restrictions for these services so parents are welcome and

encouraged to attend. These services will also be live streamed on our school Facebook page,

like last year, for those who are unable to attend.

● For the Love of Pete raffle tickets are still on sale and can be purchased at the school or church

office and online. The new ticket price is $100 and one ticket gets you entered into the

monthly drawings for cash.

● Our St. Peter School Parent Team is looking for some new recruits. The parent team organizes

various activities throughout the school year for our students and their families. It is a great

opportunity for you to get involved with the school. If this is something you might be interested

in, please contact Mrs. Kristin Stringfellow at 740-341-4227.

● Reminder that there will be no school on Wednesday, September 15th due to the Wyandot

County Fair.

● Thank you to all our church bulletin advertisers. Advertisers support completely defrays our

publishing costs. Please consider advertising in the bulletin. It's great for your business and

great for the church! Please contact Adam West at (614) 867-1396 or [email protected] to

advertise. Thank you for your support!

Just Thought You Should Know…

● Our annual St. Peter School discount card fundraiser will begin soon. Each family will be getting

ten cards to sell so we encourage you to sell as many as you can. If you need additional cards,

please contact the school office. The families who sell the most cards will be rewarded with

pizza gift certificates. The contest ends on October 8th.

● Our students will be treated to a virtual NED Show on Friday, September 24th at 1:30. The NED

show teaches children about the importance of standing up to bullying, being a good friend,

and being respectful. It is a unique show with a great message that we are excited to offer our

students. If you have any questions, please let us know.

● Please check the school website at www.stpeterupper.com for latest updates, schedules, or

changes.
