Sports Snippets - Term 1 Week 4 Wednesday 21st February, 2018
We would love to share information about your child’s special achievements across all sporting areas, so please email detailed information and a photograph if available to: [email protected] cricket
Kaitlin Hobson travelled to Smith Park, Newcastle on 9th February for Polding Girls' Cricket. There were 3 girls representing the Armidale Diocese. The day started at 9.00 am and finished at 2.00 pm. During this time the girls were put through constant monitoring of Bowling, Batting, Fielding and Wicket Keeping. The temperature was quite humid, but not as hot as Tamworth (thank goodness). They then played a game. It was great for Kaitlin to meet other girls and families from all the other Dioceses involved; a good family atmosphere. At the end of the time the selectors picked a team of 12 girls and Kaitlin was successful in winning a place. Congratulations Kaitlin, well done. Kaitlin will now represent Polding in the 2018 NSW PSSA Cricket Girls' State Carnival 5th-8th November, 2018 in Maitland.
Congratulations to Will Jeffery of 1P who got a hat trick in the
T20 Cricket on Saturday. Well Done!!

Cricket T20 blast
Welcome to Round 12 of T20 BLAST Cricket for 2017/2018.
T20 BLAST will be on again on Saturday 24th February at No.1 Oval (Kable Avenue) next to the Town Pool, behind Target. Thank you for all the parent and carer support to help run this program. It certainly wouldn't happen without you. The T20 BLAST program starts at 9:30am and finishes at 11am. Please move games on quickly and be at the game at least 10 minutes early. This will help us to finish on time. I have attached the draw for this week. Please let me know if your team could take some more players. I have noticed some teams are regularly getting less than 8 players and this means some players who are on a waiting list could join the program and start playing cricket. Thank you for sending kids to the skills zone last week. It was fantastic. Please continue to send kids who have already batted or who are waiting in the skills zone. The next two batters to bat should wait on the sideline to keep the game flowing. All other children should be at the skills zone. Thank you for ensuring that your team has a scorer, umpire and someone to help direct the batting team on the side to the skills area.

Oztag This message was received by Mr Short this week after the Oztag games on Monday. “ Today I was watching your Lightnings girls play South Sizzlers at Oztag. I wish to congratulate them on the wonderful sportsmanship they showed when playing a much weaker team. They let one South girl, playing her first game, score two tries by refusing to tag her. It is a long time since I have seen anything as unselfish as that. Well done ladies” Congratulations St Ed’s Lightnings, your sportsmanship has not gone unnoticed!!
