Hanyang International Summer School (HISS) is one of Korea’s biggest and most popular summer programs. In 2017, around 2000 students spent 4 weeks in one of Korea’s leading private universities. HISS offers world class education combined with a variety of unique cultural experience of Korean culture. Every year HISS is thrilled to host an increasing number of students and faculty from around the world, and this year we are looking forward to meeting you too.

Hanyang University is the successor of DongA Politechnic Institute, which was established in 1939 as the first engineering collge in Korea. Today, Hanyang is hometo more than 32,000 students in 24 colleges and 21 graduate schools. To continue its momentum of progress, Hanyang University has been striving to promote internationalization and consequently, over 1,000 courses instructed in English by about 200 foreign professors are offered every semester. Efforts such as these have allowed Hanyang to recruit more than 6,000 international students in total, while boosting relations with about 700 universities worldwide.

Hanyang offers various types of housings on/off campus for an additional charge. Dormitory buildings are divided by gender but are located next to each other. Off-campus dormitories are within walking distance.

For HISS 2018, we are cooperating with various partner housing entities to help students find appropriate accommodations that are easy to find and affordable, nearby campus or near the city center.

students and other international students. Hanyang International Summer

Program does an incredible job at providing such a fun, and culture packed

Who knew one month could be so short, yet could also be so experienced to the

fullest?! Four weeks in Seoul didn't seem like much at first, but somehow,

HISS managed to pack in a wide variety of field trips and events alongside

enriching and engaging classes, and nurtured many new friendships with

students from all over the world. With the diversity of HISS' participants,

it was a truly international and multicultural exchange experience! It turned

out to be one of the most exciting and memorable summers of my life.

Students who register before February 14th (the early registration deadline) are eligible for this scholarship.

Students whose cumulative home university’s GPA is over 3.80/4.00 or 4.25/4.5 are eligible for this scholarship.

Students who have joined Hanyang International Summer School before are eligible to become a Hanyang Alumnus and apply for this scholarship.

Students whose parent is HYU Alumnus, or are currently employed at HYU as full-time faculty or staff members are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarships

The above mentioned scholarships do not apply to students from partner universities. With the exception of the Early Registration Scholarship, students are only eligible for one of the scholarships mentioned above.
