Purchasing an Annual Memorial Candle in honor of a loved one or for a special intention is a wonderful way to remember your loved one while supporting the parish and beautifying the sacred space of our church. The annual offering for each candle is $250.

Your memorial candle will “burn” for one full year in honor of your loved one or your special intention.

A small plaque displaying the name of your loved one or a special intention will be mounted in front of each candle. Plaques will remain on display for one year and may be renewed or rededicated for an additional 12-month period.

La ofrenda anual por cada vela es $250. Su vela conmemorativa se “quema” durante un año en honor de su ser querido o su intención especial.

Una placa pequeña con el nombre de su ser querido o intención especial será montado en frente de cada vela. Placas permanecerán en exhibición por un año y podrán ser renovadas o dedicadas de nuevo por un periodo adicional de 12 meses.

A SUNDAY FOR REJOICING Today’s Gospel story of the prodigal son is a favorite of many. We can identify with all the major figures and their crisscross of emotions. The father’s initial grief over his young son’s avarice is turned to relief at his return. The son’s grief over his loss of fortune, family, and friends is turned to delirious joy at the sight of his father. We understand the eldest son’s bewilderment over his father’s generosity. For the older son, virtue seems not to be its own reward. For all his honorable toil and loyalty, there seems to be no celebration. The father, however, is prodigal in his forgiveness and mercy. He expects the same generosity from his older son. He wants all to re-joice when the lost one is found. This is a Sunday for rejoicing. It’s time to pause, con-sider, and encourage one another. We are the prodigal children heading home. We are the elder siblings waiting with the eager Father, who scans the horizon. In Christ Jesus we are reconciled to the Father and one another. UN DOMINGO PARA ALEGRARSE Pocas parábolas del Evangelio son tan queridas por el pueblo cristiano como la del hijo pródigo. Nos podemos identificar con todos sus personajes, y con las emociones que se entrecruzan entre ellos. El dolor del padre por la avaricia y desconsideración de su hijo se convierte en alegría al verlo regresar. El dolor del hijo por haber perdido todo lo que tenía –dinero, familia, amigos– se convierte en alegría delirante al ver como su padre lo recibe. Pero también comprendemos el desconcierto del hijo mayor ante la generosidad de su padre. Para el hijo mayor, la virtud no es su propia recompensa. Ha trabajado duro, y ha sido un hijo leal, pero eso no se celebra con fiestas ni banquetes. Pero su padre es un padre pródigo, y prodiga su perdón y su misericordia. Y espera que su hijo mayor tenga esa misma generosidad. Quiere que todos se regocijen por-que el que estaba perdido ha sido hallado. Este es un domingo para alegrarse. Es día de hacer una pausa, y de considerarnos y alentarnos unos a otros. Porque todos somos hijos pródigos, en el camino de re-greso al hogar de nuestro padre. Y debemos también ser hermanos mayores, pero hermanos mayores que esperan junto con el padre ansioso, mientras vislumbra el horizon-te. En Cristo Jesús nos vemos reconciliados, con Dios Padre, y con nuestros hermanos. En su Muerte y Resu-rrección hemos pasado de la muerte a la vida. Somos una nueva creación. The 2016 Bishop’s Ministry Appeal and The Jubilee Year of Mercy The Year of Mercy is an invitation—an invitation to awaken our hearts to the joy of the Gospel, to be the healing heart and caring hands of Jesus with compassion and unbounded gener-osity towards others. Prayerfully consider joining in support of Bishop Stephen Blaire and make your 2016 commitment to-day.

WHAT ARE YOU ASKED TO DO? As a parishioner in your local church and of the Diocese of Stockton, we ask you to help meet the challenge we now face. To succeed in accomplishing the goals of this appeal to benefit our parishes and the Diocese, we ask each Catholic family to consider a sacrificial gift. To assist in making your decision, Suggested Giving Plans have been prepared for your consideration. Keep in mind that no pledge is too small or too large. It should have some relation-ship to your standard of living and God’s generosity to you and your family. Our ultimate goal is 100% participation!
