FROM MY HOUSE
TO YOURS
Dear Parishioners,
Take a look around the church and see the other peo-
ple with whom you are worshiping - we as Jesus’ followers
come in a variety of ages and experiences, races and lan-
guages. If you look below the surface, you might find even
greater differences - such as various depths of understanding of
Jesus, and varying abilities to see Jesus in their daily lives.
Today’s readings give us a variety of ways to understand Jesus
- the resurrected Lord.
In our readings today, we hear what could be seen as
competing images of Jesus: both the long-awaited Messiah,
ready to take the throne of David, and as the unblemished lamb
who shed his blood for our sake. In Acts, Peter says that Jesus
was delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God to
suffer crucifixion and a horrible death to win our salvation -
then to rise from the dead to restore life, and ascended into
heaven where he now sits at the right hand of the Father.
Turning to the gospel, we see a compassionate and
loving Jesus, walking with two of his despondent disciples as
they describe their state of mind and the events of the past
days. Jesus accepts them where they are, and helps them to
understand that he is the fulfillment of the prophets in the He-
brew Scriptures. Then Jesus fully revealed himself through the
breaking of the bread.
Jesus’ great love for the two disciples shines forth in
his patience and understanding. Jesus brings them around in
the way that they need to be taught - with a lengthy explana-
tion of Scripture and a reminder of his actions during the Last
Supper. Most importantly, Jesus shows a willingness to walk
with the disciples, to let them tell their own story, and to teach
them at their level, in the way that they will best understand.
Let us take some time today to ponder Christ’s pas-
sion, death and resurrection by which we are saved and re-
deemed, and given the promise and hope of eternal life. Let’s
focus on appreciating more fully God’s gift of salvation, and
try to live more fully in the power of the Resurrection so we
can give a more faithful witness to the gospel. Let’s also do
our best to imitate the actions of Jesus in today’s gospel by
being willing to walk along with people we encounter in our
daily lives - especially making an effort to listen to their stories
with patience and gentleness. We just might be able to help
them better understand what Jesus means in their lives.
At the same time, let us walk with open hearts and
minds, knowing that for us, the people we encounter might be
Jesus, walking with us to give us hope and to lead us on our
way.
God Love Ya,
Fr. Reilly

I would just like to thank all of you for making Holy

parish family. I am truly blessed to be here among
all of you, you truly are an inspiration to me!
I would also like to thank all those who decorated
our Churches, say a prayer for them since they had
to put up with me for several hours. I would also
like to thank the cantors, organists and choir mem-
bers; their God given talents truly brought us Easter
joy.

Theme—Mary, our Mother and
friend.
Come and have fun and learn about Mary, the
Mother of God and Queen of Peace. This year
we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Our Lady
of Fatima, when the Blessed Mother appeared
to 3
children and asked them to pray for peace. AT
our VBS, we will impress upon the children the
Importance of their prayers and actions to cre-
ate a better world. The day includes
music, crafts, games and snack. This is a
great way to start the summer!
For additional information,
please call Maryellen Carroll at the
Rectory.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the
old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”
-2 Corinthians 5:17
The church teaches that faith is “to entrust oneself
wholly to God and to believe absolutely what he says”
(CCC 150). This is to make an act of the will to repent
and give your life to Jesus Christ. Many refer to the joy,
peace and conviction from this decision as becoming a
“new creation” or being “born again”. In reality, it is the
fulfillment of the effects of our baptismal graces where
we were “born of water and the Spirit” (John 3:5). It is
our second conversion, and it is necessary for all of us
baptized as infants. God has no grandchildren, only chil-
dren! He will not force us to entrust ourselves wholly to
him and believe absolutely what he says. That is our
choice.
FORMED is home to so many amazing resources for
Catholics! There are audio programs that you can
download and listen to on the go. Videos that can be
watched as a movie or program. You can download
books to read on your tablet or
computer too.
Now is the time to sign up!!
Visit www.FORMED.org You should see the registration box for
parishioners. Type in the parish code Y8HV6H and set
up a username and a password. Now you are all set to
use all the great programs on FORMED.org.
If you have any questions or need help please call the
rectory.
Sharing your faith! If you have a toddler and would like informa-
tion on ways to teach your child about God and our faith, we want to help.
Please email Maryellen Carroll at [email protected]. Children can learn
so much at an early age and we want to capitalize on this ability. The more we all
know about our faith, the better disciples of Jesus Christ we all become.
