Ако је ко побожан и богољубив, нека се наслађује овим дивним и светлим слављем. Ако је ко благоразуман слуга, нека радујући се уђе у радост Господа свога. Ако се ко намучио постећи се, нека сада прими плату. Ако је ко од првог часа радио, нека данас прими праведни дуг. Ако је ко дошао после трећега часа, нека празнује са захвалношћу. Ако је ко стигао после шестога часа, нека нимало не сумња, јер ничим неће бити оштећен. Ако је ко пропустио и девети час, нека приступи не колебајући се ни мало. Ако је ко стигао тек у једанаести час, нека се не плаши закашњења: јер овај дивни Господар прима последњег као и првог, одмара онога који је дошао у једанаести час, као и онога који је радио од првога часа. И последњег милује и првога двори; и ономе даје, и овоме дарује; и дела прима, и намеру целива; и делање цени, и принос хвали. Стога дакле, уђите сви у радост Господа свога; и први и други, плату примите; богати и убоги, једни с другима ликујте; уздржљивци и лењивци, дан поштујте; ви који сте постили и ви који нисте постили, веселите се данас! Трпеза је препуна, наслађујте се богато сви! Теле је угојено; нека нико не изађе гладан; сви уживајте у богатству доброте! Нека нико не оплакује сиромаштину, јер се јави опште Царство. Homily on Pascha Saint John Chrysostom

If anyone is devout and a lover of God, let him enjoy this beautiful and radiant festival. If anyone is a wise servant, let him, rejoicing, enter into the joy of his Lord. If anyone has wearied himself in fasting, let him now receive his recompense. If anyone has labored from the first hour, let him today receive his just reward. If anyone has come at the third hour, with thanksgiving let him keep the feast. If anyone has arrived at the sixth hour, let him have no misgivings; for he shall suffer no loss. If anyone has delayed until the ninth hour, let him draw near without hesitation. If anyone has arrived even at the eleventh hour, let him not fear on account of his delay. For the Master is gracious and receives the last, even as the first; he gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour, just as to him who has labored from the first. He has mercy upon the last and cares for the first; to the one he gives, and to the other he is gracious. He both honors the work and praises the intention. Enter all of you, therefore, into the joy of our Lord, and, whether first or last, receive your reward. O rich and poor, one with another, dance for joy! O you ascetics and you negligent, celebrate the day! You that have fasted and you that have disregarded the fast, rejoice today! The table is rich-laden; feast royally, all of you! Christ is risen, and you are overthrown! Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen! Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is risen, and life reigns! Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in a tomb!

For Christ, being raised from the dead, has become the First-fruits of them that slept. To him be glory and might unto ages of ages. Amen.

Одржавање црквeне имовине У току прошле године смо учинили велики напор да прикупимо неопходна средства да би заменили котао за грејање. Скупили смо око $14,000 што је било довољно за поправке али не и да се замени котао. Ове године смо наставили да улажемо у поправке система за грејање између осталих ствари. Недавно смо завршили замену бакарних сливника на цркви који су били раније покрадени. Неколико већих радова нас очекује који морају да се ураде а то су: поломљени тротоар на северној страни цркве, фуговање зидова цркве на каменој фасади и поправка крова на неколико места. Такође, биће потребно да се ураде неки електричарски радови на цркви. Кров већ цури на неколико места али најлошије стање је изнад црквене канцеларије. Вода је већ направила одређену штету на плафону и зидовима. Морамо почети са овим поправкама што је пре могуће. Осим ових обавезних поправки, волели би да унапредимо кухињу тако што би инсталирали комерцијалну пећ. За све ово потребна су додатна финансијска средства. Ми планирамо да одрђимо једно велико донаторско вече 2. маја 2009. Имамо предивну цркву и морамо се бринути о њој. Нарочито се морамо трудити ове године да је доведемо у пристојно стање када се спремамо за освећење цркве које планирамо за октобар. Рачунамо на вас и надамо се да ћете нам се придружити у суботу, 2. маја 2009. �

Church Maintenance St. Sava Church Continues to Fundraise for Structural Improvements

Last year we made a great effort to raise necessary funds in order to replace the heating boiler. We raised only about $14,000, which was enough to repair it but not to replace it. This year we continue investing in our heating system among other things. Recently we replaced stolen copper downspouts with aluminum ones. There are several major repairs that are necessary: replacing the broken sidewalk on the north side of the church, repointing of the masonry walls, and repairing the roof in several areas. Also, we will need some electrical work done in our building. The roof is already leaking in several areas, but the worst section is above church office. Water has already done some damage to the ceiling and walls. We have to start these repairs as soon as possible. Besides these mandatory repairs, we would also like to install a commercial stove in our kitchen. For all these things we need additional funds.

Therefore, we are planning a major fundraising event to be held on May 2, 2009. We have a beautiful church, but we have to take care of it. We especially have to work hard to prepare for the church consecration, which will take place in October. We count on you and hope that you will join us on the May 2 fundraising dinner and dance. �

Annual Assembly Commitment to furthering the church’s mission

On Sunday, February 1, 2009 the parish of Saint Sava held its Annual Assembly. Officers of the old Church Board gave their reports. The financial report was given for 2008 and accepted. У недељу, 1. фебруара 2009 године одржана је годишња скупштина наше парохије. Чланови Црквеног одбора за прошлу годину су поднели извештаје. Такође, финасијски извештај за 2008 је поднет и прихваћен. Буџет за 2009 је предложен и усвојен у износу од $414,825. 2009-2010 Црквени Одбор Бранко Глишовић, Председник Петар Величковић, Подпредседник Невена Чикојевић, Подпредседник Стеван Недељковић, Благајник Марија Еремић, Рачуновођа Нада Јовановић, Секретар (Енглески) Сузана Форкапић, члан 2009-2010 Надзорни Одбор Милица Погоржелски Немања Трифуновић Вера Величковић

Протекли догађаји Преглед недавних догађаја у цркви Свети Сава

Светосавска Прослава

Широм Епархије источноамеричке је прослављен Свети Сава а нарочито је свечано било у Новој Енглеској где је служио Његово Преосвештенство Епископ источноамерички Г. Митрофан . Владика је стигао у Бостон у петак 23. јануара а у суботу ујутру је већ био у Laconia, NH где је служио Свету Литургију. У Лаконији и околини живи око двадесет Српских породица које су до недавно припадале Бостонској парохији. Сада их опслужује Прота Иван из Портланда и сваког месеца имају по једну службу. Ово је била прва пастирска посета Владике Митрофана парохијанима у Лаконији. Око шездесет верника је присуствовало Светој Литургији која је одржана у Грчкој Православној цркви. Саслуживали су о. Иван Марјановић и о. Александар Влајковић. После пригодног програма и резања славског колача Владика Митрофан је поделио поклоне деци.

У поподневним часовима Владика се упутио у Бидефорд, Мејн где је присуствовао Вечерњем богослужењу и светосавском програму. Поред владике служили су о. Иван Марјановић, о. Александар Влајковић, о. Џон Тиг и о. Василиос Арабатсис. После богатог дечијег програма и вечере Владика и о. Александар су се вратили у Бостон.

У недељу, 25. јануара Владика Митрофан је служио Архијерејску Литургију у цркви Св. Саве у Кембриџу. Саслуживали су о. Александар , о. Иван и о. Румен. На крају свете литургије пререзан је славски колач. Кумови славе ове године су били Сава и Бранка Чвек са децом. Око 250 верника је присуствовало богослужењу. Уследио је свечани ручак у црквеној сали а затим пригодан програм који су припремила деца. Програм се састојао од рецитација, певања, свирања и фолклора. За време ручка свирао је оркестар Свилен Конац. �

Recent Events Highlights from recent events at St. Sava Church

St. Sava Celebration

St. Sava Day was celebrated throughout the Eastern American Diocese, but it was especially festive in New England where His Grace Bishop Mitrofan served. His Grace arrived in Boston on Friday, January 23, and on Saturday he was already in Laconia , NH, for the celebration of Divine Liturgy. In Laconia and the surrounding area, there are about twenty Serbian families who until recently belonged to the Boston parish. Now they are served by Fr. Ivan Marjanovic from Portland, and he holds one service per month. This was the first pastoral visit of Bishop Mitrofan to the parishioners in Laconia. About sixty parishioners attended Liturgy that was served in the Greek Orthodox Church in Laconia. Serving together with Bishop Mitrofan were Fr. Ivan and Fr. Aleksandar Vlajkovic. After the recital and the blessing of the Slava bread, Bishop Mitrofan distributed gifts to the children.

In the afternoon His Grace arrived in Biddeford, ME, where he attended Vespers and the children's program. Other clergy besides His Grace included Fr. Ivan, Fr. Aleksandar, Fr. John Teague, and Fr. Basil Arabatsis. After the children's program and dinner, Bishop Mitrofan and Fr. Aleksandar returned to Boston.

On Sunday , January 25, 2009, Bishop Mitrofan celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Sava Church in Cambridge along with Fr. Aleksandar, Fr. Ivan and Fr. Rumen. The Slava bread was blessed at the end of the Liturgy. Sava and Branka Cvek with their children served as Slava kumovi this year. Around 250 faithful attended Liturgy. A festive Slava luncheon was hosted by the kumovi in the church hall, and was followed by a program which included poems, songs, musical performances, and folk dancing. Entertainment during the luncheon was provided by Svilen Konac. �
