KVM Overview
What is a KVM switch?
KVM stands for keyboard/video/mouse (otherwise known as
peripherals). A KVM switch is a hardware device that allows you
to control multiple computers from a single set of peripherals.
A KVM switch is useful wherever there are multiple computers,
but there is no need for a dedicated keyboard, monitor and mouse
for each one. KVM switches are frequently used where multiple
servers are placed in a single rack with a single keyboard,
monitor and mouse.
The application of using a KVM switch:
Large amount of servers to manage and control.
Cost-sensitive solution (limited IT personnel but with a large
amount of servers).
KVM Overview
Analog KVM switch
An analog KVM switch provides its user with a
local connection to all supported devices. You have
access to supported devices only when you are on-
site. Analog KVM switches can be considered as a
“basic version” of KVM switches.
A digital KVM switch provides its user with a
remote access via IP (i.e., web browser). You can
access all connected devices from anywhere in the
world at any time.

• OSD – Simple control through an on-screen menu
• Password Protection – Secure access is based on
password protection
• Flash Upgradeable – Convenient upgrades mean that the
product never goes out of date
• Daisy Chain – Auto Initialization – Connect multiple
units together up to 16 level – 256 servers
• Video Resolution – 2048x1536 video resolution supports
the most demanding server room applications
• 1U Height – Fits perfectly into a standard rack; does not
use a large amount of valuable rack space
• Combo Cables – Uses a three-in-one KVM cable that
supports USB or PS/2 target devices
• Programmable Autoscan – Customize scanning times
between attached systems
• USB and PS/2 System/Target and User Support –
Supports PS/2 or USB peripherals to control a mix of PS/2
or USB user systems
