 Prerequisites  

• Review  your  own  intake  standards  (vaccination,  testing,  etc…)  • Determine  how  much  cost  your  organization  can  incur  per  animal  • Know  the  import  state  law  • Ability  to  provide  animals  with  the  appropriate  paperwork  to  travel

• Volunteers  and  a  sprinter  vs  commercial  transport  company  • ASV  guidelines  for  transport  • How  many  animals  and  how  often

• Review  your  organization  intake  protocols  • Establish  which  portions  of  the  intake  process  the  source  vs  destination  

shelter  will  acquire  for  each  animal  • Develop  protocols  for  physical  intake  of  transport  animals  (including  but  not  

limited  to  unloading  of  animals,  receiving  processes,  daily  care,  etc…)  Or  

• Develop  protocols  for  the  process  of  animals  leaving  source  shelter  (including  but  not  limited  to  last  minute  exams,  loading  plan,  paperwork,  etc.)
