Nearly 200 youth services workers have been contacted re: SAYWE development, response from staff at 22 agencies (handout). Participation is not limited to only one rep per agency, rather its open to everyone as the goal is to connect workers / educators to support our participants.Participation by individuals will either make or break the network. Currently sits on EglintonEast / KennedyPark Youth Services Network and EEKP NAP. Development of SAYWE is based on her experienceworking in the West End of Toronto where services, police, schools etc worked collectively on numerousissues, this seemless network took years to build but was very effective and allowed workers to refereasily and confindently.

4. Meeting Notes, Decisions, Issues, Discussions
2. Goals and ObjectivesGoals, objectives, mandate and vision approved as a working outline (handout).
Members would like to add:
1. Political mobilization to demand funding for Scarborough
2. Unite youth groups and councils around Scarborough for events and networking
3. Speak to funders about what agencies and youth need instead of being given directives, weshould be advocating for what works and what is currently needed. Funders do not haveaccess to the pulse of the streets
4. United approach to accessing schools to promote our services
Is SAYWE necessary?
Information about programs and services are not being shared as effectively as they could be.Resources in one neighbourhood are likely to not exist in another, yet even the most seasoned staffmay not be aware of the service / program. Communication is key, lets begin to build on this gap.
Agencies have a hard time sharing information throughout themselves, between organizations itseven less
All attendees feel that this is a necessary group
Lets define our definition of youth:
16 24 Native Child and RRS
12 18 Justice areas / courts
13 29 TCHC, Stats Canada, Massey, Birchmount Bluffs, City of Toronto
13 24 Warden Woods
17 29 HYPE
10 15 and 16 29 Read to Rap Programs
3. Website content
Ideas
Map of services similar to Child Care subsidy map on the Cities website
Drop down list of Scarborough resources similar to FPYN website
Check Scarborough councillor websites, one of them have a great map
4. Agencies contacted There is list of agencies that invites have been sent to on the SAYWE website (same as handout),
no additions recommended, however we are missing representation of local schools.
Emails from the listserve are being blocked by firewalls at these agencies or ending up in junk mailfolders: Youthlink, Tropicana, East Metro, West Scarborough Boys and Girls Club, City of Torontoand BlackCap. Amanda will have to contact their IT divisions.
5. Partnerships currently needed
None at this time, besides working better with schools. Review of current partnerhips
Birchmount Bluff and Jewil Project R.H. King Academy

8. Additional info by members
Collectively we should create a document on mesureable outcomes so funders have an idea oftheir ROI that is standard across the sector
Several years ago Amanda said on the Child and Youth Committee at the City of Toronto, theyoversaw child and youth services in Toronto. The Chair, Janet Davis, was interested in introducing astandard of care for youth programs, just as they have for child care centres. This committee wasdismantled by the curent administarion, but this is a good goal for us to discuss. Add to parking lot.
