Interior Architecture is a philosophy pertaining to interiors

that “require the architecture to be acknowledged,

embraced, and used”. It emphasizes a consistent design

inside and outside the edifce.

The oac !athedral, in "ataas na ayan, oac,

"arinduque, which was built in #$%&, is a great e'ample

o( interior (or it (ully grasps and embraces the unique

style o( architecture in the late #$))s, which is using

bricks and wood. The construction materials used, which



are bricks and wood, shows consistency in architecture.

And though it has been reno*ated many times, the

architectural style was still preser*ed.

+ther e'amples o( Interior Architecture are these pictures

(rom the &)# AIA Institute -onor Awards (or Architecture.

The picture on le(t can be assumed as a house designed

with large windows to pro*ide *iews o( the landscape

outside the house. Also, it can be assumed that due to

ha*ing large windows, the house may ha*e a large feld or

garden. "eanwhile, the other photo can also be also



assumed as a part o( the pre*ious picture. -a*ing

similarities such as the wood fnish makes the photos look

like they belong to the same house.

To conclude the striking (actor o( InteriorArchitecture.what is seen inside can be easily

assumed similar to the outside. !onsistency is the key.

Interior /esigning is a work that is (ree to sub*ert the

architecture and the architectural condition. According to

-ildebrandt, it is the process that operates on se*eral

le*els in collaboration with many disciplines.



The picture abo*e shows an e'ample o( a design which

satisfes the user0s needs. eing a pri*ate rest house, the

design gi*es (ocus on pro*iding rela'ation to the user. 1ot

only does it (ocus on that, the design also (ocuses on

*isuals. The lightings are well set and the colorcombinations are cool and warm which pro*ides a !ool

atmosphere (or the users. And, to balance e*erything, the

*iew o( the ocean completes it all.

Abo*e is an e'ample o( an interior design work.

The picture e'hibits the di2erent elements and principles

o( design. The te'ture o( the chairs are consistent and

quite similar to those hanging on the ceiling which creates

harmony between the two. The lightings are also setproperly and the color combinations and the its contrasts

match the desired atmosphere to be pro3ected inside the

room. Also, the (urniture arranged around the room is well

proportioned and scaled to the size o( the room. 4astly,

the room is (unctional due to the large space a*ailable.



To conclude, Interior design (ocuses on (unctionality,

pro*iding the user0s needs, more than *isuals.

Interior /ecoration is the application o( the elements and

principles o( arts in an interior space while (ocusing on the

*isual and aesthetic aspects o( the spatial interior.

ecause Interior decoration is more on *isuals, it is

ob*ious to say that the wall (rames are there to get the

Another e'ample is the typical !hristmas decorations.

+ne thing about interior decorations is that it doesn0t care

much about (unctionality (or it0s pure goal is to emphasize

the *isuals o( an interior. The picture shows a per(ect seto( decorations but the downside is that it consumes too

much space there(ore lessening the (unctionality o( the

room.

To conclude, Interior /ecoration (ocuses more on *isuals

and aesthetics than pro*iding the needs o( the user. It is

designing “what is to be seen”.
