Step 1: How Does the Stage Work?
If you move your mouse around the
stage, Scratch will tell you the place on the invisible grid where
your mouse is pointing - You don’t have to
work it out!
This is useful when you need to make your sprite glide to a specific place on
the stage. Just hover your mouse over the place to
see what it is called!
Step 2: Make your Character Glide
•Now that you know all about the stage, you can find out how to glide to a specific place on the stage!•Watch the tutorial
Step 2: Practice Gliding•Make the ghost glide to the places shown in the picture, just like you saw the man doing in the tutorial•When you have achieved this, put your hands on your head
Here!
…and then here!
Step 3: Revision: Adding Music• Click on the ‘Sounds’ heading
• Click on the speaker to bring up the music choices
Step 3: Revision: Adding Music• Double click on ‘Music Loops’
• Double click on a music track
Step 3: Revision: Adding Music•Click back into ‘Scripts’•Drag the ‘play sound __ until done’ onto the canvas (do not attach it to the gliding block!)•Add a ‘forever’ block and a ‘when clicked’ block to this block
You can now add music to your ghost
story.
Challenge• Click on ‘File’, ‘New’ and ‘don’t save’.• Change your cat sprite to a ghost/witch sprite.• Change the background to a spooky one.• Add a character to the bottom of the stage (this is the person
that will be frightened!).• Have your sprite glide along the top of the screen and then
down on top of the new character.• Have the character say ‘Ahhhh!’ when he/she sees the
ghost/witch.• Add spooky music to the background.• Extra task: Can you make the ghost ‘hide’ when he reaches
the other character? • Save to your USB key.
