Seahorse Tales Woolgoolga Public School
TERM 2 ISSUE 10 2nd July 2020
Happy Holidays!
Thank you to all students and families for a successful term. Thank you to the dedicated staff who always put the needs of our students as their first priority in all decision making at our school.
We wish all families a safe and happy mid-year break. This Friday will be the last day of term two. Students return to school on Tuesday 21st July after a well-deserved break. I look forward to seeing everyone after the holidays.
Sandy Beach Interp Art Project
This term Stage 3 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students were invited to
participate in the Sandy Beach Interp Art Project. This is a joint project between the
Coffs Harbour Lands Council and the Coffs Harbour City Council. Students participated
in a ZOOM meeting, organised by Lachlan Skinner, where the students were fortunate
enough to listen to elders Uncle Tony and Aunty Deb discuss the significance of the
Sandy Beach foreshore area to Aboriginal people. This area had two main camps at
each end of the beach and was a main pippi gathering ground. Students were asked to
create art works symbolising the importance of this area.
The art works will be
collected and the
student’s ideas will
be used to create a
permanent art feature
on the Sandy Beach
reserve area. A big
thank you must go to
our SLSO, Johanna
Close, for the
wonderful support
she has given the
students whilst they
were creating the art
works.
Semester One Reports
Student reports will be sent home today with your child. Please take the time to talk with your child about the report and celebrate their achievements.
