Seahorse Tales Woolgoolga Public School
TERM 1 ISSUE 8 19th March 2020
A Message from the Principal
You would have seen announcements from the Prime Minister and the Premier yesterday stating that schools continue to remain open. This decision is based on the advice of health and pandemic experts, and is supported by all the premiers, all chief ministers and the Commonwealth Government. We have and will continue to follow all the expert medical advice, guidelines and protocols to ensure the safety of students.
The changes to the way that we operate as a school may continue to develop over coming days and weeks. Please keep an eye on our school facebook page for updates. Despite the changes to the way we operate, our normal educational programs are not impacted and there remains a positive vibe across the school. Your children are and always have been our first priority. May I also take this opportunity to thank all staff and community members for your ongoing cooperation and support.

Youth Environmental Council Workshop
Last Friday, environmental representatives from years 4, 5 and 6 accompanied Ms Smith to the Botanical Gardens in Coffs Harbour for a Youth Environmental Council (YEC) work shop.
This opportunity was organised by Cascade Environmental Education Centre for students to learn about and explore the future of energy. Students explored non-renewable Vs renewable energy and the respective impacts on the planet. It was a fun and hands on way to develop scientific skills such as inquiry, collaboration and observation. The students were challenged to use a variety of materials to plan, design and build their own ‘working’ wind turbine.
Open Tuesday to Friday
Due to stocks running low in local supermarkets some food items will be unavailable in the canteen but we will try to fill orders as close as we can with the food we have available.
Thank you for your understanding.
Any support for the canteen would be appreciated at this time.

2B Owl Reports
Our class read a beautiful story called Stellaluna. It was
about a bat who got separated from her mother because
an owl attacked them. She learned to live like a bird until
one day she found her mother again. We researched owls
and found some interesting facts about them. We then
wrote some amazing Information Reports. Here we are
with our published owls.
