    In any concrete construction, a properly compacted

    concrete is definitely needed in order to achieve preferable

    properties, especially serviceability and durability, of the

    hardened concrete. In many applications, getting concrete be

    properly compacted becomes very difficult or even impossible

    with only use of conventional concrete and conservative

    equipment. Design engineers, contractors, and site supervisors

    There are several factors effecting theformulation of CPAC Self-Compacting Concrete.Among the important ones are :

    1. Volume of Coarse Aggregates : Thevolume of coarse aggregates shall not be a toohigh a proportion of the overall solid volume. Thisis to minimize the contact surface area, whichhelp preventing coarse aggregates from cloggingwhile flowing through the steel reinforcement.

    2. Volume of Fine Aggregates : The volumeof fine aggregates has to be at optimal levelwhen compared to the volume of mortar. This isto reduce friction and to obtain optimal viscosityas well as to improve deformability.

    3. Water-to-Binder Ratio : The ratio ofwater-to-binder shall be optimal in order toprevent segregation and clogging betweenaggregates and steel reinforcement.
