We are a family of diverse people with various ministries:

healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,

united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community.

Today’s Readings First Reading — David found Saul in a deep sleep, but

would not harm him (1 Samuel 26:2, 7-9, 12-13, 22-23).

Psalm — The Lord is kind and merciful (Psalm 103).

Second Reading — We shall bear the image of the heav-

enly Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-49).

Gospel — Give to everyone who asks of you. Lend ex-

pecting nothing back (Luke 6:27-38). The English translation of the Psalm Responses from Lectionary for Mass © 1969, 1981, 1997, Interna-tional Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved

This weekend, St. Ann will conduct the Annual Catholic

Appeal in-pew Commitment Weekend. Please remember

that the Annual Catholic Appeal is much different than a

one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign

where you can make a gift payable in installments.

The Annual Catholic Appeal theme, “Come, Follow

Me…and Share the Word,” was selected to remind us to

continue to answer Jesus’ call to follow Him in thought,

word and deed by providing the necessary contribution to

fund ministries and services to share God’s love with

many others at St. Ann and in our Archdiocese.

Each pledge makes a difference! All parish’s communi-

ties participate in the campaign, and the gifts of many

enable our parishes, schools, and ministries to deliver

needed services. Thank you for your prayerful consider-

ation.

Once we reach our parish goal of $34,265 in paid pledg-

es, 100% of any additional funds come back to St. Ann

to help fund our needs.

If you received your pledge form in the mail, please com-

plete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend.

Do No Harm We listen quite a while before we get to the “punch line”

of the first reading today: even though it would be an

easy thing to do, David will not harm the anointed one of

the Lord. We, of course, know that Jesus is the Messiah,

the anointed one of God, but the Bible uses this term for

many different people. It is scripture’s way of indicating

who has been chosen by God for a special place and mis-

sion in salvation history.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus presents a greatly enlarged list of

those who, as children of God, we should not harm, but

love instead: our enemies, those who curse us or do us

harm, those who owe us money, the ungrateful, the wick-

ed. The point of Jesus’ teaching is not to encourage these

kinds of behaviors in others, but rather to form us in the

image of our heavenly Father by increasing our opportu-

nities to love unconditionally, expecting no return; to be

merciful and forgiving, even when it would be easier not

to. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Coffee & Comfort A Support Group for Mothers

Who Have Experienced the Death of a Child

Monday, March 4 7-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Office

When a child or grandchild dies―whether an infant, toddler, school aged, teen, or adult―parents mourn and begin a process of bereavement. It helps to become involved with others who have experienced something similar. Sharing eases loneliness and allows an expression of grief in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. Grief is a testament to the person who has left us. Love does not end, so we feel the loss for years to come. Coffee & Comfort is a place to share stories, to confide in others who truly understand, and to discover hope and healing. We meet on the first Monday of every month. For more information, please contact Lorraine Stephens at 708-895-6700.

We would like to thank you for participating in the parish

census. This process was necessary to ensure St. Ann has

the most complete and accurate information to contact our

parishioners when necessary. As we mentioned in Decem-

ber, an audit of this data has not been completed in many

years, so this is very overdue for St. Ann's. The in-pew

collection of your information was the first step in this

process. The task of reaching out to those who were not in

Church will be our next focus. If you did not fill out a

census form, please fill out a card in the Narthex or contact

the parish office and give them your updated information.

As we begin to determine which families are still with us,

or may have left St. Ann's, we will give another update.

Parish Census Update

We feel so lucky when your gift card purchases help us

out with needed projects around St. Ann’s, or help a fami-

ly with school or R.E. tuition! A selection of cash and

carry gift cards are available in the Parish Office or you

are welcome to order from the complete array. Orders go

in on Monday mornings. You pay face value and a

tance, or the School or Religious Ed. Family of your

choice. Order forms are available in the Parish Office or

in the Ministry 411 Center in the Narthex. Payment by

check (register in the Parish Office) or cash. The office is
