Notes ……………………………………………………………………….………..24

Our goal today is to help you arrange a memorable service that is

MEANINGFUL, APPROPRIATE, and AFFORDABLE.

We will start by discussing 5 main issues:

WHO—Who is the person we will be honoring and how did they live their life? Also, who

will want a chance to say goodbye (this is important to consider when we determine WHEN

and WHERE the service will take place)?

WHAT—What are the things we should remember about your loved one? What kind of

service will be most comforting to all of the family and friends? What type of service would

be most appropriate for this unique individual?

WHEN—When is the best time to have the service? When can family and friends attend?

When are the facilities available?

WHERE—Traditionally services take place at the funeral home, a church, or a

combination of the two. If you feel it would be more appropriate to have the service

elsewhere we would be glad to discuss all possibilities.

WHY—Saying goodbye is an important part of the grieving process. Family and friends are

the best source of support. We hope to help you arrange a service that allows everyone

involved to give and receive support.

What will we do today?

Our commitment to quality is second to none.

Our caring and compassionate staff is available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We provide the most complete and comprehensive service offerings in the Kansas City area.

Whether you choose burial or cremation services, you will be assured of our commitment to

not only meet, but exceed your expectations.

Our funeral home is equipped for large gatherings and smaller more intimate services.

We have operated our own crematory since 1979. Our crematory was the first in Johnson

County and one of the first in the Kansas City area. We only provide cremation services to the

families we serve which enables us to provide better, faster and more personal service.

We are proud to be an independently owned family funeral home. We answer to the families

we serve, not stockholders.

Why choose the Amos Family?

Code of Good Funeral Practice

As funeral directors, our calling imposes upon us special responsibilities to those we serve and

to the public at large. An important obligation is to provide information so that everyone can

make knowledgeable decisions about funeral and cremation services.

In accepting our responsibilities, and as a condition of our affiliation with Selected Independent

Funeral Homes, we affirm the following standards of good practice and hereby pledge:

To provide the public with information about funeral and cremation services, including

prices, functions and the responsibilities of funeral directors

To make services available in as wide a range of price categories as necessary to meet the

needs of all segments of our community, and to affirmatively extend to everyone the right to

inspect and freely consider them all

To quote conspicuously in writing the charge for every arrangement offered, and to clearly

identify the services, facilities, equipment and merchandise included in such quotations

To adhere to the highest standard of conduct in all aspects of business

To afford an ongoing opportunity to all persons to discuss or arrange funerals in advance

To ensure that pre-need contracts fully disclose those items which are guaranteed and those

which are nonguaranteed, in terms that are clear and easy to understand

To manage prepaid funds responsibly, ensuring that promises are honored and expectations

are met, within the letter and spirit of the law

To make no representation, written or oral, which may be false or misleading and to apply a

standard of honesty in all dealings

To furnish each family, at the time arrangements are made, with a written memorandum of

charges and to make no additional charge without their approval

To respect all faiths, creeds and customs, and to give full effect to the role of the clergy/

celebrant

To maintain qualified and competent staff, appropriate facilities and suitable equipment

required for comprehensive funeral and cremation services

To assure those we serve the right of personal choice in making service arrangements

We pledge to conduct ourselves at all times in a manner deserving of the public trust, and to

provide a copy of this Code of Good Practice to the families we serve.

Offering refreshments after a funeral is regarded as an important aspect of the

funeral service. This is a time for meeting up with family members, sharing sto-

ries and recalling in greater detail the life of the deceased person. Sometimes this

is the only opportunity for a family reunion.

The Amos Family has a reception center that seats up to 80 people. There is a

small fee for its use and families may choose from a variety of catering options.

We are happy to arrange the catering, locate a venue of appropriate size,

coordinate times and set up.

Since 1979, the Amos Family has operated its own crematory. We have recently

installed a new, state of the art crematory along with a new viewing room. The viewing

room allows families to identify their loved one and if desired, witness the cremation in a

tasteful and comfortable environment.

You are assured that you will receive your loved one’s remains.

How do we achieve this? The Amos Family and their staff adhere to a strict procedure

which insures that we deliver our promise to you. All staff involved in the cremation proc-

ess sign a pledge to adhere to these standards. We pledge to you that we will treat your

loved one with the same respect and dignity as if we were caring for our own family

member.

1. Your loved one never leaves our care.

2. The Amos Family controls every step of the process.

3. Your loved one is carefully identified and an identifying ankle bracelet is affixed

at the time of removal from the place of death.

4. Your loved one is bathed, dressed and placed in the cremation container of your

choice for identification by the next of kin or their representative. (Premium Direct

Cremation)

5. A cremation certificate is generated and accompanies the decedent throughout

the entire process. This certificate contains the name, case number, cremation

number, date and place of death, social security number, date of birth, age and a

space for special instructions.

6. Every effort is made to obtain the necessary authorizations from the attending

physician, coroner or medical examiner as soon as possible.

7. As an added security measure, the Amos Family requires that your loved one be

identified by the next of kin or their representative prior to the cremation taking

place. This identification will take place at a mutually agreed time during normal

business hours.

8. A metal tag with a corresponding number is placed in the cremation chamber

and remains with the cremated body, eventually being placed in the chosen urn.

9. Only one person is cremated at a time.

10. The cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned after each cremation to limit the

possibility of mixing cremated remains.

11. The urn of your choice is returned to you with an identification sticker,

containing the name, case number and cremation number of the decedent.

Why the Amos Family is the right

choice for your cremation services.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave.

However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or burial vault

will satisfy these requirements. To assist you in identifying a vault, we have assigned a numerical symbol to each vault.

A corresponding numerical symbol has been affixed to the upper left-hand corner of the vault price card, which is next to the vault.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the urn in the grave.

However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or burial vault will

satisfy these requirements. To assist you in identifying a vault, we have assigned a numerical symbol to each vault.

A corresponding numerical symbol has been affixed to the upper left-hand corner of the vault price card, which is next to the vault.

Markers & Monuments

Let the Amos Family help you design a custom monument

Monuments are a customized way to pay tribute to a loved one. Whether it is a traditional

burial or a direct cremation, the Amos Family can help you create a unique lasting memo-

rial. A monument reflecting the character and uniqueness of an individual is a very fitting

and worthwhile tribute.

Every monument is different and the creative possibilities are endless. Monuments come in

a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. They can be created for:

An individual

A couple

Entire Families

Veterans

Public Servants

Community Events

Many cemeteries have special regulations regarding the installation of monuments. We

will make sure that your monument will meet the specifications of the cemetery. We can

even arrange to have a monument installed in a cemetery out of town or have a previously

placed monument replaced or repaired.

Our goal is to make your experience as positive as we possibly can. By making monu-

ments and markers available to our customers, it is just one more detail we can handle for

you.

Precious Memories TM

Precious Memories TM are keepsakes that allow you to remember the one who has

passed in a truly unique and powerful way—with a tangible imprint that captures

the unique impression every life makes on our own. Captured from an inked fin-

gerprint, handprint, or footprint, each one is both unique and everlasting—

preserving in precious metal every line and contour for countless generations to

come.

Precious Memories are available in Sterling Silver as well as in 14kt. Yellow or

White Gold. Each Precious Memories TM Keepsake includes engraving on the

back up to 3 lines (maximum of 8 characters per line). They are also available

with 18” chains (lobster claw clasp), and with genuine birthstones or a genuine

diamond set in the bail.

Veteran’s Benefits

When making arrangements you will want to make sure and mention if your

loved one is a veteran. Honorably discharged veteran’s (must provide a copy for

the DD-214 / discharge papers) are entitled to military honors and a flag.

The Amos Family has a large selection of military specific items to honor your

veteran and their service to our great nation. A few of items include:
