RCDRILLINGisamethodofdrillingwhichusesdualwalldrillrodsthatconsistofanouterdrillrod
withaninnertube.Thesehollowinnertubesallowthedrillcuttingstobetransportedbacktothe
surfaceinacontinuoussteadyflow.Thedrillcuttingswilltravelaroundthecycloneuntiltheyfall
throughthebottomopeningintoasamplebag.Thesebagsaremarkedwiththelocationanddepth
oftheplacewherethesamplewascollectedandcanbetransporteddirectlytotheassaylabfor
analysis.Itisanon-contaminatedsystemandcomplieswithSAMREC(SouthAfricanMineral
ReportingofExplorationResults)Standards.

AirCoreDrilling

AIRCOREDRILLINGisawell-knownandwidelyusedmethodwhenitcomestosoftrockandsoil
formations.Themainfeatureofthisdrillingmethodisthatitmakesuseofthreebladesthatcutinto
theearth.Thebladesareattachedtoahollowtube.

ODEX(SymmetricDrilling)

Inproblemformationslikeriverbedandhighlyfracturedformations,itmightbe
necessarytoinstallthecasingasthedrillingcontinuesastheformationkeeps
collapsinganditpreventsthecasingtobeinsertednormally.Oncetheproblemareais
cased-offandthesolidrockformationwaspenetrated,normalpercussiondrilling
cancontinuetotherequireddepth.Theholecanthenbecleanedanddeveloped
forpumptestingandpumpinstallation.

DrillingforBoreholes/WaterWells

ABOREHOLEisaverticallynarrowshaftboredinthe
ground.Aboreholemaybeconstructedformany
differentpurposesincludingtheextractionofwater.
ABoreholeusedaswaterwelliscompletedby
installingaverticalpipe(Casing)andwellscreen
tokeeptheboreholefromcaving.Theholeis
normally100mm-600mmindiameter

Blasting

BLASTINGholesismostcommonlyusedinthe
MiningIndustry.Holesaredrilledina
patternformationwhicharethenfilledwithexplosives.

AirCoreFlushing

ThissystemistoidentifyorebodiesandconsistsofdrillingwithaCoreBarrelthatisflushedwith
airandbackwashedwithfluids.AIRCOREisdrilledfrom70mm250mmindiameter.
NormallyCoaltargetsareexploredwiththissystem.

MudRotary

Insandandclayformations,theMUDROTARYmethodisused.Itisaspecializedmethodthat
allowsustodrillthroughthesandandleavestheholeopenforcasinginstallation.Ascreen
isplacedoppositethetargetedhorizontoallowthewatertoflowintothehole.
Betweenthescreenandcoarsesand,afilterpackisinsertedtopreventanyfinematerial
flowingbackintothehole.

OpenPitGradeControl

OPENPITGRADECONTROLgenerallyentailsthesamplingandassayingofblastholecuttings
followedbytheestimationofOrecontrolblockmodelgrades.Theestimatedblockgradesareused
inturntodesignsurfacepolygonsordiglinesthatoutlineandseparatevariousOretypesandwaste
materialorthepurposesofmining.InanOpenPitoperation,thisinvolvesthesamplingofblasthole
cuttingsproducedbydown-the-holehammerdrillsandtheclassificationofbenchreservesintoOre,
lowgradeorwastematerial,orintovariousmetallurgicaltypes.

WASSARA

TheWASSARATechnologyuseswatertopowerthehammer.Thismakesittheideal
choiceformostdrillingapplicationsingroundEngineering-fordrillinginsensitive
areasaswellasfordrillinglongstraightholes.Thewater-poweredDTHHammeriscapableof
