MESSAGE FROM FR. JULIO SEEK KNOWLEDGE The reality of the human being is vulnerability, both on the physical level, in which an accident can radically mark our lives, or even lead us to death, or a blow or a virus... as well as on the mentality, which will depend on the information that has reached one's ears, the people who have surrounded him, ... it will depend on you having

one or the other opinion, preference, mentality, faith or atheism. Faced with this reality we have a moral duty to seek knowledge with great responsibility, since we see only one aspect after another, and it is usually more what we do not see than what we see, so often the opinions we form are wrong, based on our partial and often distorted knowledge, passed through the filters and interpretations that others have made, and that we do. What we hear and select to accept will depend on whether one is a believer or not, whether one is left-wing or right-wing, irresponsible or responsible, happy or un-happy, good or bad, intelligent or clumsy, sensible or foolish... all of this depends on the level of knowledge one has, which in turn depends on the effort each one makes to seek it out and acquire it. Some decide to search, learn, know and analyze, while others show no interest in learning anything and resign themselves to sur-vival seeking well-being and pleasure, only interested in the here and now. My people perish because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). This is what eternal life is all about, that they know you, Father, and the one you have sent, Jesus Christ (John 17:3) Many teenagers and young people, inexperienced even in life, rush to judge and jump easily to conclusions, be-fore knowing even 1% of reality. Thus, there are many who rush to deny God, or doubt Him, when they do not yet know 1% of what they should hear and know. It is as if the one who enters to study medicine before the end of the first year decides to leave the race because he does not yet know how to operate on anyone, nor does he know how to cure almost anything; is disappointed and stops believing in medicine. Worse we do about God, who we do not study for a year of our lives and dare to dismiss him, as fools; unconscious that they rule out the most important thing in their lives, their creator, savior, and giver of Life. The donkey knows his master's manger, but Israel does not discern (Isaiah 1:3) You will look for me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (Deuteronomy 4:29; Jeremiah 29:13) Lord, give us the grace to seek you to come to know you, to know you to love you, to love you deeply to ourselves and others.

MENSÁJE DE PADRE JULIO BUSCA EL CONOCIMIENTO La realidad del ser humano es la vulnerabilidad, tanto en el nivel físico, en el que un accidente nos puede marcar radicalmente la vida, o incluso llevarnos a la muerte, o un golpe o un virus… como también en la mentalidad, que va a de-pender de la información que ha llegado a los oídos de uno, las personas que le han rodeado, … de esto dependerá que tenga una u otra opinión, preferen-cia, mentalidad, fe o ateísmo. Ante esta realidad tenemos el deber moral de buscar el conocimiento con gran responsabilidad, dado que ve-mos solo un aspecto tras otro, y normalmente es más lo que no vemos que lo que vemos, por lo que, con fre-cuencia, las opiniones que nos formamos son erróneas, basadas en nuestro conocimiento parcial y a menudo distorsionado, pasado por los filtros e interpretaciones que han hecho otros, y que hacemos nosotros. De lo que escuchamos y seleccionamos aceptar va a depender si uno es creyente o no lo es, si uno es de iz-quierdas o de derechas, irresponsable o responsable, feliz o infeliz, bueno o malo, inteligente o torpe, sensa-to o insensato… todo esto depende del nivel de cono-cimiento que uno tenga, lo cual a su vez depende del esfuerzo que cada uno haga por buscarlo y adquirirlo. Unos deciden buscar, aprender, conocer y analizar, mientras que otros no muestran interés por aprender nada y se resignan a sobrevivir buscando bienestar y placer, solo interesados en el aquí y ahora. Mi pueblo perece por falta de conocimiento (Oseas 4,6). En esto consiste la vida eterna, en que te conozcan a ti, padre, y al que has enviado, Jesucristo (Juan 17,3) Muchos adolescentes y jóvenes, inexpertos aun en la vida, se precipitan a juzgar y saltan fácilmente a conclu-siones, antes de conocer ni el 1% de la realidad. Así, son muchos los que se precipitan en negar a Dios, o en dudar de Él, cuando aun no conocen ni el 1 % de lo que deben escuchar y conocer. Es como si el que entra a estudiar medicina antes de acabar el primer año decide salirse de la carrera pues aun no sabe operar a nadie, ni sabe curar casi nada; se decepciona y deja de creer en la medicina. Peor hacemos respecto a Dios, al que no es-tudiamos ni por un año de nuestra vida y nos atreve-mos a descartarlo, como necios; inconscientes de que descartan lo más importante de sus vidas, a su creador, salvador y dador de Vida. El burro conoce el pesebre de su amo, pero Israel no discierne (Isaías 1.3) Me buscaréis y me encontraréis, cuando me busquéis de todo corazón. (Deuteronomio 4:29; Jeremías 29:13) Señor, danos la gracia de buscarte para llegar a conocer-te, conocerte para amarte, amarte para amarnos pro-fundamente a nosotros mismos y a los demás.


SAINT CLAUDE DE LA COLOMBIÈRE/SAN CLAUDIO DE LA COLOMBIÈRE February 15th

This is a special day for the Jesuits, who claim today’s saint as one of their own. It’s also a special day for people who have a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a devo-tion Claude de la Colombière pro-moted, along with his friend and spiritual companion, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. The emphasis on God’s love for all was an antidote to the rigorous moralism of the Jansen-ists, who were popular at the time. Claude showed remarkable preaching skills long before his ordination in 1675. Two months later, he was made superior of a small Jesuit resi-dence in Burgundy. It was there he first encountered Margaret Mary Alacoque. For many years after he served as her confessor. He was next sent to England to serve as confessor to the Duchess of York. He preached by both words and by the example of his holy life, con-verting a number of Protestants. Tensions arose against Catholics and Claude, rumored to be part of a plot against the king, was imprisoned. He was ultimately banished, but by then his health had been ruined. He died in 1682. Pope John Paul II canonized Claude de la Colombière in 1992. As a fellow Jesuit and as a promoter of the devo-tion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Claude must be very special to Pope Francis who has so beautifully emphasized the mercy of Jesus. The emphasis on God’s love and mercy are character-istic of both men.
