Rabbi’s Message

What a week! In Parshas Vayigash Yosef, his father, brothers and their families are reunited – there is great joy in Goshen. An interesting detail of the family’s itinerary is the instruction Yaakov gave to Yehuda. Yehuda is sent ahead to

ensure the easy transition of the family in Goshen. What was his mission? Targum Onkelos says it was to look for proper housing but Rashi quotes the Medrash that his objective was to organize and establish a yeshiva to ensure to continuous study of Torah. The identity of the children of Yaakov is the Torah. This week Deerfield Beach was overflowing with Torah. Sunday was Zos Chanukah; Monday was the dedication of the Blumenthal Torah and Wednesday was the Daf Yomi Siyum HaShas. What a week! May we continue to be inspired by the wisdom and light of the Torah.

Note: The actual start of the new Daf Yomi cycle is this Sunday January 5th, 2020. I would like to present a

challenge. If you have not done it before - try Daf Yomi with us. If the daily commitment is a bit much, how about trying the first Masechta which is Berachos? Berachos is an exciting tractate dealing with many relevant topics including Davvening and making Brochos. It is only of 64 pages long and will conclude on March 7th, and who knows what will happen after that!
