    Shri Pati Padhati

I just completed Hart de Fouw's advanced Vedic astrology course in ShriPati and Iyer methodologies.

The course was incredibly valuable on many many levels.

For one it showed me the rationale !or "diurnal" house systems moreclearly than ever and how e#ternal events may indeed be more lin$ed tothese systems.

The Shri Pati house system is uni%ue. It is not simply Sidereal Porphyry. The Sidereal Porphyry house cusps are at the "middle" &as at mostpower!ul point not the mathematical center o! each house and are called

(hava )adhyas with the beginnings and ends o! each house calculated bytrisecting the arcs between the ).*.+I.*. a#is and the,scendant+-ecendant a#is. In other words by this method no longer doesone sign one house.

(ut the mathematics o! this method is not the real !ocus o! this piece butinstead the interpretive bene!its o! this system. Here are a !ew/

    0. Transits to the (hava )adhyas i.e. Sidereal Porphyry cusps areconsidered important events. Times when the transiting planet will most

    a!!ect a speci!ic house.

    1. There many be 22 via a concept called in 3estern astrology interceptedhouses 22 more than one (hava )adhya in a single sign. I! so then a planetmay rule more than one or two houses or even none. 4.g. in a chart with5emini rising the )adhya !or the 0st and 1nd houses may both be in thesign 5emini and there!ore )ercury would rule both o! these houses.

    6. ,ll issues that are assessed by house position such as dig bala $endrabala temporal !riendships and yogas based on house and not signpositions &e.g. )aha Purusha yogas which depend upon a planet being inits own or e#alted sign in a $endra should be assessed !rom the (havachart and not the 7asi &sign house chart.

    8. 9n the other hand aspects and associations are rec$oned by 7asi as aremany yogas. I! a pattern shows up in the 7asi chart but not in the (havachart it will mani!est internally and describe personality %ualities. I! the

opposite is true the pattern will mani!est as e#ternal events. Permanentchart !eatures li$e $ara$as again describe personality and inner %ualitieswhile temporal chart !eatures such as lordships &o! (hava )adhyas and(hava placement will indicate visible e#ternal li!e events.

:. 4ach (hava )adhya actually has two lords. The lord o! the signoccupied by the (hava )adhya called its stoola lord. ,nd the planet thatrules the na$shatra occupied by the (hava )adhya called its soo$shmalord. (oth lords are o! e%ual importance and can help understand chartpatterns otherwise une#plainable.

;. The primary use o! this system is in dynamic &-asha and transitanalysis as opposed to static natal chart interpretation. In other words inorder to delineate a -asha period accurately it is valuable to e#amine boththe Permanent &7asi based and Temporal &(hava based !actorspertaining to the planet who's period is running.
