3D: Geometry of full reservoir
âą The goal is to take into accountâą the real 3D geometry of the dam and foundation (valley)
âą the geometry of the reservoir for a better description ofthe hydrodynamic pressure on the dam. With acoustic elementin the model, a better description of the reservoir is geometricallydoable and even computationally possible.

Conclusion
An extended 3D model including the whole shape of the reservoir allows study 3D effects due to the reservoir and the valley shape. Comparison between 2D and 3D analysis:
âą They show that 3D modes have their frequencies in the same range than a 2D model.
âą As to be expected, the eigenfrequencies of the 3D model are found to be higher than the ones of the 2D model.
âą 3D modeling and computing is nowadays easily possible and allows show more realistic behaviors of dams and reservoirs.
