By electing the Green Channel, you are deemed to have declared that you do not have anything to declare to the authorities. A TRUE AND COMPLETE DECLARATION Making an incorrect declaration is an offence under the law. The offender may be fined up to $10,000. Please therefore enquire at the RED CHANNEL if in doubt. BAGGAGE EXAMINATION Under the law, you are required to produce, open, and unpack your baggage for examination and to repack it thereafter. If you are directed to the X-ray machine for scanning of your baggage, please make your declaration to the officer there before your baggage is scanned. This pamphlet provides general information on Customs

formalities and clearance procedures.

The Red and Green Channel system is operated at all entry

checkpoints to expedite clearance of arriving travellers.

If you are arriving by car, you will see the Red and Green

Channel directional signs located along the route after

immigration clearance. Air, sea, bus/coach and rail passengers

will see the Red and Green Channel signs above the

examination counters in the Arrival Hall at the respective

checkpoints. The examination counters are manned by

Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers.

m Customs m ~ Goods to Declare ~

Proceed to the RED CHANNEL if you are carrying:

• dutiable or taxable items exceeding your duty-free

concession or GST relief

• controlled or restricted items

• prohibited items.

At the RED CHANNEL, please:

declare verbally to the officers any of the above-stated

items that you are carrying, and

produce the prohibited or controlled items together with

the import permit or authorisation, if any.

~ NS~nS ~oOD~I~re ~ Proceed to the GREEN CHANNEL if you are not carrying any

of the 3 types of items stated above. However, the officers may

still conduct selective checks at the Green Channel. If in

doubt, always enquire at the Red Channel.

• Intoxicating liquors, including spirits, wine, beer, ale, stout

and porter

• Tobacco products, including cigarettes and cigars

• Motor spirit

WARNING: It is an offence to proceed to the Green Channel with any goods exceeding the duty-free concession and GST relief.

No duty-free concession on cigarettes and other tobacco products. Failure to declare

is an offence. Fine up to $10,000 or jail.

Bona fide travellers 18 years and above, who have arrived from countries other than Malaysia and have spent 48 hours or more outside Singapore immediately before arrival, will be granted the following duty-free concessions: • 1 litre spirits (brandy, whisky, gin, rum, vodka, etc.), • 1 litre wine, and • 1 litre beer or stout or ale or porter.

Bona fide crew members will be granted duty-free concessions on 0.25 litre of spirits, and either 1 litre of wine or 1 litre of beer.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is leviable on all goods

imported into Singapore.

Bona fide travellers who are not holders of a work permit,

employment pass student pass, dependent pass or long-term

pass, will be given GST relief on new articles, souvenirs, gifts

and food preparations (excluding intoxicating liquors and

tobacco) as follows:

Less than 24 hours No Relief $50 24 to less than 48 hours $50 $150 48 hours and above $100 $300

• Dutiable goods and goods exceeding your duty-free concessions or GST relief may be brought in only on payment of duty and GST at the Customs Office.

• Duty-free concessions or GST relief are granted on items for your personal consumption only. It is an offence to sell or give them away.

• Duties and GST must be paid on goods brought in for trade, commercial or business purposes, and goods carried on behalf of other persons.

• The import of intoxicating liquors exceeding 10 litres, tobacco products exceeding 400gm and motor spirits exceeding 10 litres must be covered by the relevant Customs permit.

• Travellers arriving from Malaysia will not be granted duty-free and GST relief concessions on motor spirits in containers.

Please pay your Customs Duties and GST via Credit Card, NETS. Cashcard or Autopass card. It is easy. fast and convenient.

Transit passengers arriving by air at Changi Airport Terminal 1

or 2 may keep their excess liquors and tobacco products in the

Customs Bond pending departure through either Terminal 1 or

2. Transit passengers arriving at the Budget Terminal may keep

such excess items in the Customs Bond pending depart'ure if

they are departing from the·same Terminal. Warehouse rent is

chargeable. Do note that only dutiable goods will be accepted

for bonding. Commercial goods or high-value items will not

be accepted. Bonding facility is not applicable to crew

members. ..:-. Certain goods are allowed entry only when you produce the import permit or authorisation from the relevant authorities. If you do not have the import permit or authorisation, the items will be detained and referred to the following relevant authorities for approval:

Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore

• Animals, birds, fishes and their products

• Plants and plant products

• Endangered species of wildlife and their products

• Fresh and processed food, including cooked food

Singapore Police Force

• Arms and explosives

• Bullet-proof clothing

• Toy guns, pistols and revolvers

• Weapons, kris, spears and swords

Media Development Authority

• Films, video and video games

• Publications and audio records

Health Sciences Authority

• Pharmaceuticals

• Medicines

• Poisons

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore

• Telecommunication and Radio communication equipment

• Toy walkie-talkies
