Objectives1. To promote and establish Wushu not only as a performing art but also as a competitive

sport.2. To establish Singapore Polytechnic as a centre for Chinese Cultural Arts.3. To build and maintain good rapport amongst all Wushu athletes from various institutions.4. Competition Conditions

General1. All participants have to be current students of the participating institutions.2. Institutions are allowed to participate in all events.3. There should not be more than 2 participants from the same institution in each event.4. There should be at least 2 participants from different institutions for all events. In the event

that this requirement is not fulfilled, the competition event will be cancelled and/or possibly combined with another category (as and when deemed appropriate).

5. All entry forms must be endorsed and stamped by the respective institutions and submitted to Singapore Polytechnic by the registration closing date.

Fee1. All institutions have to pay a one-time registration fee of $60. For students participating in

one individual event, a fee of $30 per participant is applicable. For students participating in more than one individual event, the fee is $50 per participant. For group events, it is $20 per participant.

2. The registration fee is to be paid in cash upon registration.

Individual Events1. All routines have to be traditional or international routines, or otherwise disqualified.2. There are no limitations on the number of events each individual can register for.3. For international routines, both males and females are only allowed to compete in 1 st and 2nd

International Routines.

Group Events1. A minimum of 6 competitors for all Group Routines is required (please bring your own

music CD).2. A maximum of 3 sets of non-uniform movements are allowed in each group routine. One set

of non-uniform movement: consists of two uniform movements completed by only two groups. (eg. in a group of six, there can be 1 to 5 participants doing backflips, while the rest do cartwheels)

TimingThe timings for all routines are as followed:

1. Individual Traditional Routines - minimum 1 minute2. Individual International Routines - minimum 1 minute 20 seconds3. Individual Taiji Quan - minimum 5 minutes, maximum 6 minutes4. Individual Taiji Jian - minimum 3 minutes, maximum 5 minutes5. Duel Routines - minimum 50 seconds6. Group Routines - minimum 1 minute 30 seconds, maximum 3 minutes

Music1. Group events must have accompanying music.2. Singapore Polytechnic will provide sound equipment for team use. The team can also bring

their audio equipment.3. Accompanying music must not have any verbal singing and/or lyrics.

Judging CriteriaAll judging criteria will be conformed to the SWDLDF standard competition code of practice, with the exception of Point 2 of the Group Events Competition Conditions.

There will also be an All Rounder Award ( 三 项 全 能 ) for the two categories. Winners will be determined by the sum of their scores from their three individual events.

OverallThere will be 2 championships held in this IVP competition, namely a Traditional Routines Championship for Category 1 and an International Routines Championship for Category 2.

All placing will be awarded with a medal and a certificate. In the event of a tie, the average of the highest and lowest scores will be taken. The score nearest to this average will be the winner for the ranking in question. If a decision still cannot be made, the same ranking will be given to both competitors.

The decisions made by the Chief Judge and the panel of SWDLDF judges are LAST & FINAL.

Rules & Conditions1. No changes are permitted once the competition schedule is finalized.2. All participants are not allowed to withdraw from the competition without valid reason.

Medical Certificates are required to be shown to the organizing committee on the day of competition.

3. Refunds will not be given for any withdrawal, with or without valid reason.4. All participants are to report to the holding/reporting station 45 minutes before the start of

the event or immediately after the announcement is made for the participants/teams. Those who fail to comply will be considered as withdrawn from the competition.

5. Participants are required to present the number tags provided.6. All participants are to wear proper flat sole Wushu shoes and the normal Wushu

competition attire; costumes of any material, in any colour, must be uniform (as per SWDLDF specification of costume for competition). (Please refer to Appendix E)

7. Singapore Polytechnic will not be responsible or held liable for any injuries and/or illnesses that occur during the competition.

8. Each participant is only allowed to represent one institution. Participants are required to present their student passes during registration.

9. All participants are to abide by the terms and conditions stated herein upon submission of the endorsed Singapore Polytechnic application forms.

10. All Singapore Polytechnic rights are hereby expressly reserved.

NotesThe Organizer ‘Singapore Polytechnic’ reserves the right to make changes or amendments on the above rules as and when required and/or deemed appropriate.

Appendix D1. Broadsword

The total length base on the vertical position of arming the broadsword. The end-tip of the broadsword must not be lower than the upper end-tip of the ear of the participant. The broadsword must be decorated with ‘Daocai’.

2. SwordThe length base on the vertical position of reverse arming the sword. The end-tip of the sword must not be lower than the upper end-tip of the ear of the participant. The sword must be decorated with ‘Jiansui’.

3. SpearThe total length of the spear must not be shorter than the arm raised, base on the length of bottom of the feet and middle finger-tip. The spear must be decorated with ‘Qiangying’.

4. CudgelThe total length of the cudgel must not be shorter than the height of the participant.

5. Spear and CudgelAny point below centre position of the cudgel, the diameter must not be less than the specifications as follows: Adult male – 2.30mmAdult female – 2.10mm

6. NangunThe total length of the cudgel must not be shorter than the height of the participant. Any point below centre position of the cudgel, the diameter must not be less than the specifications as follow:Adult male – 2.80mmAdult female – 2.65mm

7. NandaoThe total length base on the vertical position of arming the Nandao. The end-tip of the Nandao must not be lower than the chin of the participant.

Appendix Ei. For Chang Quan, Broadsword, Sword, Spear, Cudgel, Taiji Quan and other routines

1. A jacket with a Chinese-style upright collar and seven toggle-like cloth buttons down the front and short/long sleeves. For Taiji Quan and Taiji Sword routines, a long-sleeved jacket of a length not exceeding the performer’s middle fingertip when the arms are straightened and hanging down;

2. Bloomer-like sleeves gathered at the cuffs;3. Chinese-style knickers;4. Of any material in any colour, which shall be uniform;5. T-shirt, bloomers and a soft belt is allowed6. Trims 1cm in breath for the whole garment, which may be of different material and in a

different single colour;7. A soft belt (except for Taiji Quan and Taiji Sword), which may be of different material

and in a different single colour.

ii. For Nan Quan routines1. A collarless jacket with seven Chinese-style toggle-like cloth buttons down the front, and

with short sleeves for women and no sleeves for men;2. Chinese-style knickers;3. Of any material in any single colour, which shall be uniform;4. T-shirt, bloomers and a soft belt is allowed5. Trim 1cm in breadth for the whole garment, which may be of different material and in a

different single colour;6. A soft belt, which may be of different material in a different single colour.

iii. For Freestyle Routines1. Costume must be neat and presentable; it may have embroidery design and preferences
