Telescope and instruments με υποκατηγορίες Telescopes-InstrumentsHistoryTHE observatory OF THE Physics Department at the UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS
The observatory is situated at the roof of the Astronomical Laboratory of the Physics Department, on the 2nd floor of the Computer Engineering building at the University of
Patras’ campus. A part of the roof is movable for more than 25 years, expecting the opportunity of acquiring a modern telescope. The new telescope was purchased in 2008 by the Physics Department's Lecturer E-P Christopoulou. The funding for this telescope came from the grant for instructional scientific equipment from the Physics Department. The work for the renovation of the observatory was fulfilled in 2008 with the finacial aid of University of Patras. The observatory has two stable pillars for telescopes and an hydraulic movable platform for portable telescopes. In addition there is a large computer-contol room for the observers. When the telescope is in use, a part of the roof is moved out of the way allowing observations to occur.
