me Creativity features as top priority in my personal and
professional life. During 20+ years as a designer, I’ve worked in varying industries and have expanded my skillset as required.
My capabilities include graphic/digital design, art direction, photography, conceptualisation, presentations, corporate identity, training, eventing, typography, frontend development, UI&UX design, and mobile app design.
The creative studio where I’m currently employed has grown exponentially over the last 15+ years. I work closely with the Creative Director, Communications Strategist, Design, Web and
IT teams to conceptualise and design programmes, launch events and communication strategies, including print and digital platforms.
Comment on my work would generally include self-starter, reliable, fast and efficient and highly creative. I am able to take a project from first brief through to final delivery. I’m constantly learning new technologies and keeping up to date with trends.
On a personal note, I love to travel and explore various fine art and craft interests.

Part-time work during my design studies included cashier, shop assistance and art material demonstrations at PNA, cosmetics promotions for Revlon and Yardley, telesales for the Health and Racquet Club, and children’s art classes at Erich Mayer School of Art.
Upon completion of my studies I worked at Kirsigns, designing artwork for outdoor signage. Kirsigns merged with Afrigrafix, where I was employed as a Junior Designer. Clients included casinos, local bands (i.e. Jack Hammer, Thysis, etc), restaurants, a medical research company, fastfood outlets and more. During my time at Afrigrafix my responsibilities increased to a more senior level, including handling of projects from client to final product, preparation for reproduction. Large format digital printers and a drum scanner were used in-house.
Afrigrafix expanded to include a Photography Studio/Lab and Photography/Design Training Centre, where I completed a Basic and Advanced Photography Course. I was responsible for lecturing the Design Course and composed all the required training material. I also assisted in the studio and darkroom during commercial shoots.
In 1998 I moved back to Cape Town, where I grew up. I then worked for WEVS Technical Management as a Graphic Designer doing mainly corporate design work (brochures, newsletters, corporate stationary, proposals, etc). During this time I lectured part time Graphic Design courses at City Varsity.
Having had a taste of training at Afrigrafix and City Varsity, I took on a new challenge and accepted a position at Hirt &
Carter as a Digital Media Trainer, lecturing Desktop Publishing (QuarkXPress, Freehand, PhotoShop, Typography and Printing Principles) and the One Year Graphic Design Diploma Course (which I compiled and prepared notes and study material for). I was also responsible for designing newspaper and magazine ads for the Training Centre. While assisting in Hirt & Carter’s Photo Retouching Department during the students’ leave time I also learned some of the finer points of professional photo-retouching.
Although teaching and working with talented students proved to be very rewarding, I eventually became restless and missing direct contact with the vibrant design world, I left to pursue my career as a Senior Graphic Designer at CDS Adverting and Events, a below-the-line Design and Event Management Company.
My portfolio included clients like Old Mutual, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), RCI, Mandela Rhodes Foundation, Global Conferences, People Management, Lyngrove Wines, SAMTRA, Sasko, etc.
Design work consisted of corporate identities, brochures, brand management, event and conference theming/material, bid proposals, website skins, direct marketing, signage, vehicle branding, packaging, promotional items, etc. My responsibilities also included briefing photographers and artists.
We worked as a team, but each individual was responsible for bringing conceptual ideas to the table, time-management, organizing workflow, accurate
reproduction and of course client relations. Conceptual thinking, attention to detail and quality control was considered essential.
In 2004 I joined the Creative Department of Achievement Awards Group, as a Senior Graphic Designer.
The studio provides conceptual ideas and designs artwork for Loyalty and Incentive Programmes for Corporate companies for their staff and the public as well as above and below the line campaigns for outside clients. We also design and run launch events, travel packages, gala events, communication campaigns, audio visual presentations, websites, including catalogue sites and apps.
Clients I have designed artwork for include Absa, BMW, Netcare, Samsung, Ford, BATSA, Sanlam, VW, Daimler Chrysler, Metropolitan, Batsa, Auto Carriers, Fuso, General Motors, Liberty Life, SARS, Sasol, Schenker, Ellerines, Toyota, Brandhouse, MAN Trucks, BlackBerry, Standard Bank UCount, Adcock Ingram, Barclays, Cellini, Distell, Mercedez Benz, Renault, SAB, Sanlam, UD Trucks, Volvo and VW etc.
I’m a Senior Graphic Designer / UXUI Designer & Developer for the Creative Department which includes graphic design, web & app design, conceptualising, story-boarding, presentations, art direction, mentoring and training of junior designers, photography (portrait, event, product and art direction) and audio visual presentations.
I currently live in Cape Town, but am keen to relocate for a new adventure.
