[57] ABSTRACT

A slingshot having a pistol grip type handle for grip having a yoke or crotch vwith ?exible members at tached to the arms of the yoke and to a pad or holder for a missile orprojectile. Extending from the bottom of the pistol grip is a brace which extends rearwardly and has a curved part that ?ts over the arm or wrist of the user so as to securely brace and stabilize the sling shot in use. The brace is spring held and adjustable within the handle between positions, one of which al lows pivotal aiming adjustment of the pistol grip rela— tive to the brace. The brace may be frictionally held within the handle, thus preventing rotation of the han dle with respect to the brace.

[57] ABSTRACT The fork of a slinghsot is supported in a position for ward of the handgrip thereof to increase the distance through which the elastic member of the slingshot can be drawn back, thereby increasing the force applied to a missile propelled through the fork by the elastic. The missile can be a bolt having a hook at its front end for engaging the elastic means member and having an en larged, ?attened tail ?n with ?nger holes therein. The tail ?n is aerodynamically tapered in cross-sectional shape and acts to stabilize the bolt in ?ight. Sighting along the shaft of the bolt signi?cantly increases the accuracy of the slingshot and makes it possible to reli ably hit game at reasonable hunting ranges. The sling shot has an arm which is attached to the top of the handgrip and extends forwardly to the fork and rear wardly to a forearm brace. The fork is cocked at such an angle to the axis of the arm that a central line to the eyes of a user is substantially perpendicular to the line between the attachment points of the elastic to the fork is directed toward the eyes of the user, thereby facilitating aiming of the slingshot and in creasing the accuracy thereof.

[57] ‘ ABSTRACT

A compound slingshot comprises a longitudinally ex tending support shaped for holding by a user, an elon gate resilient member having one end attached to the support, and a cam rotatably mounted on the support and having an eccentric marginal surface. A flexible line has one end connected with the free end of the resilient member, and the other end attached to and wound about the marginal surface of the cam. A projectile receiver is operably connected with the, cam by a sec ond ?exible line, whereby rearward translation of the receiver with respect to the support rotates the cam and tenses the resilient member in such a manner that the force required to retain the receiver at a fully extended position is less than the force required to retain the receiver at an intermediate position thereby providing accurate aiming of the slingshot and increased hurling capabilities.

[57] ABSTRACT A folding slingshot having a yolk, a hand grip and elas

tic members connected to said yolk. A wrist brace is frictionally, detachably and pivotably mounted to the hand grip near the base thereof. Said wrist brace com prises a pair of longitudinal members diverging rear wardly from the hand grip and spaced apart to receive the wrist between them and an end member integral with said longitudinal members engageable with the user’s wrist. A groove is on each side of said handle near the base thereof for receipt of end portions of said longi tudinal members. A protruding stop member on said hand grip overhanges each of said grooves and prevents further rotation of said wrist brace. A cam area on said hand grip below each of said grooves containing two spaced apart cam surfaces; said end portions of the longitudinal members encountering said cam surface upon rotation toward said grooves, thereby spreading slightly said longitudinal members so that after passing over said cam surfaces said end portions of the longitu dinal members snap into said grooves and rest against said respective stop members to lock said wrist brace in shooting position.

[57] ABSTRACT‘ An improved slingshot includes an elongated main frame and a fork assembly pivotally mounted about a transverse axis at the forward end of the mainframe. The fork assembly includes a pivotal flip-fork resiliently biased to normally assume a lowered neutral non-shoot ing position in which is lies below the path of ?ight of a projectile shot by the slingshot. The ?ip-fork is pivot ally movable against the bias to an upright shooting position upon stretching of a power band connected to the ?ip-fork. Upon being moved to its shooting position, the flip-fork stores energy in addition to that being stored in the elastic power band as the latter is stretched to load the slingshot. The mainframe of the slingshot includes a hand grip located between forward and rear ward ends of the mainframe and rearward and forward frame portions extend respectively rearwardly and for wardly of the hand grip. The rearward frame portion is connected to a lower end of the hand grip for placement under a user’s wrist and forearm when the hand grip is held by the user’s hand, whereas the forward frame portion is connected to an upper end of the hand grip and extends inclined forwardly and downwardly there from so as to position the forward end of the mainframe on a centerline through a user‘s arm and hand holding the slingshot.

[57] ABSTRACI‘ A slingshot is operable for propelling a projectile toward a target. The projectile is formed as a body from which a pair of elastic members outwardly and nonde tachably extend. The slingshot includes a yoke having ?rst and second substantially upwardly and outwardly extending prongs and a user-graspable handgrip de pending downwardly. Each of the prongs carries one of a pair of confrontingly opposed posts that extend out wardly from the prong and on the periphery of which a slot is de?ned. In use, the elastic members are releasably received in the respective post slots and the projectile is grasped by the user and drawn rearwardly to stretch the elastic members against their elastic urgency. When the projectile is then released, the elastic members contract that propel the projectile toward the target. As the projectile passes between and beyond the yoke prongs, the elastic members are released from the post slots and travel with the projectile body toward the target.

[57] ABSTRACT An apparatus for slinging and putting an object that has an elongated cylindrical shaft which accommodates a spurred putter head and a sling assembly on opposite ends thereof. A hand grip is provided on the shaft to hold the apparatus in a desired position. The object is directed toward a desired target by positioning the spur of the putter head into the ground and drawing and releasing the sling while the shaft is held at the desired angle. When the object is on a putting surface, the appa ratus is converted into a putter by removing the sling section from the apparatus. The apparatus can be con verted into a ?rearm target thrower by substituting a staked end section for the putter section. When the staked end is implanted into the ground, the sling is used to propel objects into the air for ?rearm shooting prac tice.

[57] ' ABSTRACT

A spear gun is collapsible to approximately one-half of the full length of a conventional spear gun by the use of both (1) a spear made of two parts and (2) by the use of a hollow shortened spear gun housing from which an extension for holding the slings or elastics for propelling the spear may protrude. The extension is slidably mounted within the hollow spear gun housing and has at its outer end a sling holder, or arrangements for hold ing the slings or elastics. The spear has a threaded cou pling halfway along its length so that the spear may be unthreaded and the two parts thereof both secured along the length of the housing. One of the parts may be stored on the gun when the gun is not in use. A special compact trigger mechanism may include a release shaft in the hand grip of the spear gun which inter?ts with a recess in the spear, and is provided with a thumb actu ated release. Concurrently with releasing the spear, the other end of the shaft includes a mechanism which releases the spear retaining line.

[57] ABSTRACT A spear-gun is disclosed which can be loaded by hold ing the butt end in the hands and moving a slider for wards with the feet to extend a spring. This allows a person of given strength to more easily load the gun or to store more energy in the spring than would be possi ble with a conventional arm-loaded gun. The gun com prises a barrel (32) with a pistol-grip (30) at the butt end and a head (34) adapted to guide the spear. The spring comprises two rubbers (36) arranged on either side of the barrel and aligned with its axis, the forward ends of the rubbers being connected to a forward slider (40) adapted to slide on the barrel and the rear ends being connected to a rear slider (42) also adapted to slide on the barrel. The forward slider (40) is ?tted with releas able non-return dogs (47) that normally prevent it from moving rearwards along the barrel, while the rear slider (42) is adapted to be retained by trigger-operated catches (43). The gun is operated by manually releasing nonreturn dogs (47) and moving both sliders (40 and 42) and the rubbers (36) rearwards until the rear slider (42) is engaged by trigger catches (43). The butt (30) of the gun is then grasped by the hands and foot stops (46) on forward slider (40) are engaged by the feet and moved forward to extend the rubbers (36). The spear is then placed in position with its butt engaging a socket (44) on rear slider (42). The gun is aimed and the trigger oper ated to release catches (43) and the rear slider (40) to effect the discharge of the spear.

P.L.C.

(57) ABSTRACT The invention relates to an underwater catapult in Which the arroW is propelled along the length of the barrel. The inventive catapult comprises a system Which can be used to launch a gun arroW With bungee cords along the length of the shaft. The system comprises ?xed or moving pulleys Which are disposed on each side at the head of the gun and ?xed or adjustable anchoring points (lugs, recesses) Which are open for loading under the gun and Which serve as support points to the tension cords for the movement thereof. The aforementioned pulleys can be used to load the large-sectioned bungees Which are linked to variable- and standard-length bungees under the catapult for loading and poWer utilities. The catapult can be used to store more energy and use the integral characteristics of the elastic rubber. In this Way, underWater hunters can equip themselves With an arm Which is very powerful, accu rate and recoil free compared to those currently available.
