Pertumbuhan mobil listrik (EV) dengan berbagaivariannya menunjukkan kecenderungan terusnaik dengan pertumbuhan 32% per tahun. Pertumbuhan ini membutuhkan perangkatpendukungnya dimana yang paling utama berupabaterai ion litium (LiB). Logam nikel (Ni) merupakan salah satu unsur utama yang dipakaipada jenis LiB yang palingcocok untukmendukung kinerja EV;
