Un año en el que hemos podido disfrutar en nuestros locales y en grandes festivales de toda España de las últimas tendencias en música alternativa acompañados por una #Escandalosamentebuena Estrella Galicia.Hemos visto desfilar a grandes artistas y grupos que definen un concepto propio; un concepto que nos identifica y que define la forma en que nos gusta hacer las cosas. Más allá de los grandes festi-vales, que nuestro país tiene muchos y muy buenos, se agradecen iniciativas como la de Son Estrella Galicia, que man-tiene viva la música en directo durante todo el año a través de conciertos menos multitudinarios, en salas pequeñas o locales tan agradables como el Teatro Lara, donde el contacto con el artista es mucho más cercano. O cómo la música independien-te sí tiene cabida en España. Incluso ahora. Que estamos en crisis (palabra tan raída que ya no nos evoca nada), es evidente.

Que las subvenciones en Cultura son tan irrisorias como el sueldo mínimo español, pues también. Que la creación española vive un apocalipsis, y no precisamente maya, así es. Pero, un momento: mientras la industria discográfica sigue en caída libre, hay algo que emerge ante nuestros ojos con gran esplendor. Efectivamente, la música en directo.Giras, festivales, conciertos, “sold out” en poco tiempo. La gente tiene hambre de música en vivo. Estrella Galicia lo sabe muy bien, por eso se ha posicionado desde hace varios años, y sin un ápice de titubeo, al lado de la música independiente.El proyecto SON apuesta en cada ciclo por conciertos de calidad, que no van encauzados a un público masivo, sino a uno exigente y selecto. Ofrecien-do actuaciones en atmósferas intimistas, donde los artistas crean una conexión mágica con el público asistente. Donde, al fin y al cabo, cada grupo viene a demostrar que hace música, y no fuegos artificiales.Además, SON es un reto sin complejos y muy arriesgado. La clave, haber elegido espacios tan exquisitos como el Teatro Lara (entre otros) sumado a una programación que asume calidad y riesgo con lo mejor de la escena nacional e internacional tanto de la actualidad como del pasado.Conseguir que el ciclo recorra tanto tiempo y se posicione como un referente no se debe a grandes presupuestos sino a una elección criteriosa a la hora de programar.Recuerdos como un Lara abarro-tado en el 2011 con Jamie Lidell serán difíciles de olvidar.Ojala sigan por mucho tiem-po apostando por lo mejor del circuito.Cuac Música

La propuesta de SON Estrella Galicia para apoyar la Música en directo ha sido realmente innova-dor y como se dice en inglés “a breath of fresh air”. La selección de grupos está siempre muy bien cuidada, y el hecho de apoyar tales grupos y permitir que la gente puede ver grupos quienes, sin este apoyo, no llegarían a tocar en España, es especial-mente importante desde que se ha subido el IVA (que hace inviable precisamente las giras de grupos nuevos). Desde Mer-cury Wheels hemos colaborado en varios conciertos y es siempre un verdadero placer trabajar en salas tan emblemáticas como Teatro Lara o tan bien llevados como el PopTorgal. El binomio cultural Madrid-Galicia siempre ha funcionado a la perfección. El trasvase de ideas, ya desde la Movida, siempre fue fundamental para concebir el panorama musical de nuestro país. Hoy en día, Estrella de Galicia es un referente de lo mismo. Por profesionalidad, buen gusto y sobre todo, por saber lo que hacen, tan difícil de encon-trar hoy en día. Han marcado una línea estilística perfectamente definida y el tiempo les está dan-do la razón. Primero, porque sus conciertos son ya clásicos cada mes en la capital, de buen gusto y con criterio. Segundo, porque la marca ya está indiscutiblemente asociada a la cultura y la músi-ca. Sus arreglos plenos de orquestaciones y la voz de barítono de su cantante les emparejaban con grandes mitos como Serge Gainsbourg, Lee Hazlewood y Scott Walter. Han pasado casi dos décadas desde aquellos tiempos pero Tindersticks continuaron publicando álbumes en estudio y en directo, múltiples colaboraciones y también grandes trabajos para bandas sonoras de películas. Graduado en música clásica en Londres, continuó sus estudios en Estados Unidos relacionándose con el movimiento de avant-garde y artistas como Iannis Xenakis, John Cage y La Monte Young. Consiguió trabajo en New York en Pickwick Records, donde trabajaba como compositor Lou Reed. Estaba claro que con dos genios en tan reducido espacio algo muy grande tendría que ocurrir. Se van a vivir juntos, reclutan a un par de conocidos y forman un grupo que pasaría a la historia como The Velvet Underground. Pronto les apadrina Andy Warhol y se los lleva a la “Factory”. Les impone a Nico como cantante del primer álbum pero demuestran su talento en todos los temas. En el siguiente disco se impone John Cale pero su vanguardismo le llevó a ser “expulsado” del cuarteto. Su ausencia no impidió a la Velvet continuar un camino triunfante que les llevaría a ser el grupo más influyente para todos los que vinieron detrás.

Graduated in classical music in London, he continued his studies in the United States interacting with the avant-garde movements and with artists such as Iannis Xenakis, John Cage and La Monte Young. El trío londinense se tomó siete años de silencio, que no de descanso. Además de dedicarse a colaborar con otros grupos y pasar tiempo con sus familias han estado hurgando en sus raíces, repasando toda su trayectoria para que cuando estuvieran preparados para volver hacerlo a lo grande. Su octavo álbum de estudio “Words & Music By Saint Etienne” es una descripción musical de donde crecieron, del camino recorrido, intentando mezclar la nostalgia del pasado con la frescura del presente.

Teatro LaraES/El Teatro Lara fue inaugurado en 1880, siendo a día de hoy el más antiguo de Madrid. Sus pequeñas dimensiones, con una cabida actual de 460 espectadores, unida a una belleza singular, le hacen ser conocido desde su estreno como la “Bombonera de Don Cándido”, nombre de su mecenas, que fue carnicero de profesión en la plaza de Antón Martín y se hizo millonario por sus abastecimientos a los ejércitos reales contra los carlistas.Desde su apertura se convirtió en el teatro burgués por excelencia, del género chico, el juguete cómico… Siempre tuvo un sello elitista, de prestigio, de grandes estrenos, de actores y actrices de calidad, de público selecto. EN/Since its inauguration in 1957, the disco Playa Club has seen generations and generations of people from A Coruña pass bay, and in doing so it has become the haunt of young clubbers in the city. Possibly its distinctive feature is its club spirit and the continuous search for new horizons always approaching cutting-edge sounds.Live music is other of the distinguishing features of the room, with a regular programming approaching the 100 performances each year and they try to improve it in quality and in quantity every year. The room has three different rooms with three different music styles, but all of them maintain the essence of the Playa Club.

ES/Desde el año de su inauguración en 1957, la Discoteca del Playa Club ha visto pasar a todas las generaciones de coruñeses y se ha convertido en el lugar predilecto de los jóvenes noctámbulos de la ciudad. La distinción, es posiblemente, su espíritu de Club y la búsqueda continua de nuevos horizontes acercándose siempre a los sonidos de vanguardia.La música en directo, es otro de los elemen-tos diferenciadores de la Sala, con una programación estable que se acerca a las 100 actuaciones anuales y que año a año intenta mejorar en calidad y en cantidad. Mondo ClubES/En el 2008 de las cenizas de un antiguo puti club, nace el mondo club, por donde han pasado algunas de las mejores bandas y Dj’s del panorama nacional e internacional, consolidándonos como la sala de referencia en el norte del estado. Sus noches son divertidas y desenfrenadas, donde la música sigue siendo la protagonista, por carecer de complejos y etiquetas, y por donde entre 3.000 y 4.000 personas se dan cita cada fin de semana para corear los himnos/ hits indie-pop-rock-electrónica-80’s-90’s etc, que han sido la banda sonora de nuestras vidas.
