Rules and Regulations on Postgraduate Training Programs for

International Students

In order to strengthen the training of postgraduate international students and

improve the quality of degree programs, the Rules and Regulations on Postgraduate

Training Programs for International Students is formulated according to the Regulations

on Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China, Interim Procedures for the

Implementation of Regulations on Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China,

Rules and Regulations on the Degree Evaluation and Granting in South Medical

University and other files issued by the Ministry of Education in terms of postgraduate

education of international students as well as the actual situation of SMU.

1. Training Objectives

(1) Throughout the postgraduate programs, the candidates should observe relevant

laws and regulations, behave well in daily life and cultivate a positive attitude in

learning and research;

(2)Through the study of the postgraduate programs, the candidates will be equipped

with solid theoretical foundations and systematic professional knowledge. They also

learn to develop their abilities to carry out scientific research independently and achieve

innovative outcomes in their specific field;

(

3) During the study, the candidates should also maintain good physical health.

2. Program Duration

The programs for postgraduate students is 2 to 4 years long.

he international students can voluntarily apply to prolong their period of study (1 more

year at most) according to their research needs. During the prolonged period, tuition fee

and accommodation fee should be paid as required. Students who apply for the

prolongation of study should gain the approval of his/ her supervisors, the authority of

the school, Graduate School and School of International Education. If students finish

their studies in advance, they can graduate half a year ahead of schedule upon the

approval from Graduate School and School of International Education.

3. Mode of Instruction

T

he training of postgraduate international students is in the charge of supervisors and

assisted by the tutor team according to the actual needs.

D

uring the first school year, students can apply for the change of supervisors if their

research topic is different from the research field of their supervisors. The application of

students will become effective after the signing of supervisors and the approval of

Graduate School and School of International Education. After the first school year,

students are not allowed to change their supervisors.

4. Training Program and Training Plan

T

raining Programs should be formulated according to the disciplines and majors of the

postgraduate international students. The training programs shall be formulated by

Academic Degree Evaluation Sub-committee in each school.

During the first two weeks after the postgraduate students are enrolled, supervisors

and the tutor team should formulate specific training plans according to the requirements

of professional training program and the actual situation of students. The training plans

shall include the following contents: specific research field, the scope of research topics,

specific requirements and schedule for courses and subjects, credit requirements,

learning time, academic activities, practical activities, assessment method, text books

and reference books, literature reading, research work and dissertation. The training plan

should be approved by the training institute and submitted to the Graduate School and

School of International Education to be put on record.

According to Clinical Skills Training Program for Master of Professional Studies in

SMU, postgraduate students majored in clinical medicine shall accept clinical skill

training as well as scientific research training, with clinical skills training as the priority.

In discipline rotation, internal medicine and surgery belong to the third-class discipline.

Students should also rotate in other second-class disciplines. The total number of

disciplines students rotate in shall be no less than 3, the duration of rotation in each of

the discipline shall not be less than 2 months, and students’ clinical practice shall be

more than 18 months. Besides, students should take examinations of different disciplines

and fill out rotation manuals.

5. Requirements on the Postgraduate Courses and Credits

F

or the academic type of postgraduate students, they shall obtain 33 credits within the

program duration; for the professional type of postgraduate students, they shall obtain 23

credits within the period.

6. Courses

(1) There are 5 compulsory courses for postgraduate students, namely, Introduction of

China (3 credits), Chinese Language (7 credits), Biostatistics (4 credits), one

professional basic course (3 credits) and one professional course (5credits). Elective

courses shall be selected in advance.

10 Clinical Anatomy 30/2 Elective (2)The passing grade for compulsory courses is 70 and the passing grade for other

courses is 60. After students pass the examinations, they can get corresponding credits.

The courses for postgraduate students usually take up more than one semester. The

academic type of postgraduate students shall spend at least 8 months in teaching or

clinical practice (they can accept scientific research training at the same time); and the

professional type of postgraduate students shall spend at least 18 months in clinical

practice.

7. The Compulsory Part

7.1 Thesis Proposal

S

tudents should choose their thesis topic under the direction of their supervisors and read

at least 25 key articles before writing their thesis proposals.

Thesis proposal shall include two parts: literature review and research program. If the

thesis topic is self-selected by students, novelty assessment report shall be submitted.

Literature review (less than 10,000 words) shall include the conclusion and

summarization of previous studies relevant to the thesis topic. Research program (less

than 10,000 words) shall demonstrate the research significance, research content,

anticipated objectives, research method, implementation scheme and time arrangement

of the thesis.

T

he thesis proposal shall be presented in Examination Group Meeting and students shall

take part in oral defense. The Examination Group can be assumed by the tutor team or 3

teachers with senior professional title. Experts from other institutes are welcomed to join

the Examination Group. After the thesis proposal, the Examination Group shall offer

suggestions for modification and decide whether the proposal can pass or not. Students

who need to modify their thesis shall finish the modification within 2 months and submit

a written report to the Examination Group. They do not need to take part in oral defense

again.

7.2 Mid-term Examination

M

id-term examination examines students’ course learning, research ability, teaching ability

and practical skills. The examination for the academic type of postgraduate students

focuses on their research progress and research quality while the examination for the

professional type of postgraduate students focuses on their practical skills and ability.

After the examination of professional basic courses and professional courses, assessment

of students’ thesis demonstration report, original experimental records and clinical

rotation manual will be carried out.

7.3 Academic Activities

S

tudents should take part in at least 6 academic activities during the period of their study.

Students should take part in international or national academic activities and present

their papers. One international or national academic activity is regarded as one academic

activity. Students should write a brief summary of about 400 words after the activity.

7.4 Practice Part

P

ostgraduate students can take part in classroom teaching, coaching and guiding

experiments , after which they should submit personal work summarization.

8. Academic Dissertation

(1) The whole dissertation or part of the contents in the dissertation should be

publicized in a publication or accepted by publishers; or it should be presented in

an international or national academic conference.

(2) As for the format of the dissertation, please refer to Rules on the Format of

Postgraduate Dissertation of Southern Medical University.

(3) Students can write the dissertation and present oral defense in Chinese or

English. If the dissertation is written in English, the abstract should be written in

Chinese.

(4) Other information about the dissertation is the same with that of other students at

SMU.

9. Training Schedule for Postgraduate International Students

(1) Supervisors and postgraduate students should formulate training plans during the

first two weeks of school;

(2) Course learning should be finished before the end of the first semester;

(3) Students should determine their thesis topic, finish the thesis proposal and pass

Chinese Test before the end of second semester;

(4) The mid-term examination will take place in the end of the third semester;

(

5) The time of thesis defense will be the same with that for other students in SMU

(decided by the Degree Committee).

10. Other Regulations

A

mong the international postgraduates candidates, those who meet the requirements of the

Master Degree Program will obtain the degree certificate issued by Southern Medical

University, which includes one certificate in Chinese and one duplicate in a translated

language. The two versions are equally authentic.

and nootropics

Students are required to have

a good command of neurologic

examination methods,

primary reading of cranial CT and MRI, as

well as lumbar puncture skills.

Strictly abide by the operational requirements of departments, develop good medical ethics and be able to fulfill routine diagnosis and treatment tasks.

Require-ments for Clinical Practice

Be in charge of 4 to 6 beds and complete various medical work in the wards under the guidance of superior doctors. Ask patients to complete medical records within 24 hours of hospitalization and record the course of diseases on time. Write one or two complete case reports in each department. From 8 to 10 am, students should follow superior doctors to go the rounds of the wards and report the patients’ conditions. The superior doctors will ask you questions and revise or complete your answers. From 10 to 12 am, students should complete clinical work under the guidance of superior doctors.

Require-ments for Academic Activities

Students must attend case report seminar once a week in which the interns introduce medical records and put forward preliminary analysis and proposals and the guiding teachers organize a discussion. Clinical rounds teaching will be conducted once a week. Students must participate in various academic activities in the department such as special reports, discussion of discharged patients’ medical records, of intractable cases and of death cases.

南方医科大学关于留学生攻读硕士学位研究生培养的规定

  为加强我校攻读硕士学位留学生的培养工作,提高硕士生的培养质量,根据《中华人民共和国学位条例》、《中华人民共和国学位条例暂行实施办法》和《南方医科大学学位评定与授予实施细则》的有关规定,以及国家教育部关于外国来华留学研究生培养工作的有关文件精神,结合我校具体情况制定本规定。一、培养目标

.遵纪守法,品德良好,学风严谨。  2.掌握本学科坚实宽广的基础理论和系统深入的专门知识;具有独立从事科学研究工作的能力,能够在科学和专门技术上做出创新性的成果。  3.身体健康。二、学习年限  硕士生的学习年限一般为 2-4年。  留学生由于在校期间所做课题的需要,可自愿申请延长学习年限,最多可延长 1年(延长期内应按规定缴纳学习与住宿费用)。申请延长学习年限的留学生,需经导师同意,所在学院审

查,并由研究生学院和国际教育学院批准。若提前完成全部学业经研究生学院和国际教育学院批准可提前半年毕业。三、培养方式

留学硕士生的培养工作实行导师负责制。根据培养工作的需要,也可由教师指导小组协助指导工作。

自入学之日起 1年以内,硕士生自主选题与导师研究方向不符时,可申请转换导师。由硕士生提出申请,经接收导师签字同意,由研究生学院和国际教育学院批准后生效。入学 1年后不得转换导师。四、培养方案与培养计划  招收留学硕士生的学科、专业,应制定留学硕士生培养方案培养方案由所在学院学位评定分委员会制定。硕士生入学两周内,由导师和指导小组根据专业培养方案要

求,结合硕士生个人的实际情况制订具体的培养计划。培养计划应有明确的研究方向、论文选题范围,并对课程学习、拟修课程科目、学分要求、学习时间、学术活动、实践环节、考核方式、主要教材和参考书、文献阅读、研究工作、学位论文等的具体要求及进度做出安排,报培养单位批准后送研究生学院和国际教育学院备案。

训练,强化临床技能培养,内外科按三级学科轮转,其他二级学科在本学科和相关学科轮转,轮转学科总数不得少于 3个,每个学科轮转时间不得少于 2个月,临床实践不得少于 18个月,并做好出科考核、填写轮转手册。五、硕士学位的课程学习学分要求

学术型研究生在规定学习年限内必须累计学满 33个学分;专业学位硕士生在规定学习年限内必须累计学满 23个学分。六、课程学习

.学位必修课程考试成绩 70分为合格 ,其余课程考试成绩 60分为合格,考试成绩合格后给予相应学分。

硕士生学位课程学习时间一般不少于 1学期。学术型硕士生用于教学或临床实践时间不少于 8个月(可以与科研工作同步训练);专业学位硕士生用于临床实践时间原则上不少于 18个月。七、必修环节

1.开题报告  硕士论文在导师指导下由学生独立拟定。撰写开题报告之前应至少阅读 25 篇重要文献。

开题报告由文献综述和研究计划两部分组成。自选课题应附查新报告。文献综述是对课题有关的前人工作进行归纳总结,字数不超过一万字;研究计划部分是对选题意义、研究内容、预期目标、研究方法、实施方案和时间安排等作出论证,字数一般不超过一万字。

开题报告必须在审核小组会上宣读并答辩。硕士生指导小组可作为审核小组,也可由 3 名具有高级职称的教师组成,提倡聘请外单位专家参加。审核小组听取开题报告后,作出修改和通过的决议对于需修改的开题报告应在 2个月内完成,须向审核小组提供书面报告,不需再次答辩。

中期考核主要考核课程学习、科研能力、教学能力、实践技能等内容,学术型研究生侧重考核科研课题的进展与水平,专业学位研究生侧重考核实践技能水平。完成专业基础课和专业课的考核,并检查开题论证报告、研究生原始实验记录或临床轮转手册等材料。

3.学术活动学习期间至少参加 6 次学术活动。参加国际或全国性学术活

动并宣读论文,视同 1 次学术活动,同时应撰写 400字小结。4.实践环节可参加本科生的课堂教学、辅导、指导实验等工作,并提交

个人工作小结。八、学位论文

.学位论文的全文或部分内容原则上应达到有 1 篇论文在公开刊物上发表或被接受;或在国际或全国学术会议上宣读学术论文 1篇。  2.硕士学位论文的撰写格式见《南方医科大学研究生学位论文格式规定》。  3.学位论文可以用汉语和英语撰写和答辩。如用英文撰写论文,则须用中文撰写论文摘要。  4.论文工作的其他环节与在校生相同。

下腔出血的常见病因、临床表现、诊断、鉴别诊断和治疗原则;帕金森氏病的病理和临床表现;癫痫的临床表现、诊断要点与癫痫持续状态的抢救;重症肌无力的发病机理、临床表现;腰椎穿刺术的适应证、禁忌证、常见并发症。

急诊 3个月

急、危、重病人的生命支持理论,心肺复苏(CPR),包括基础生命支持(BLS)、进一步心脏生命支持(ACLS)、基础创伤生命支持(BTLS)和进一步(高级)创伤生命支持(ATLS)的基础理论和新进展;常见急症的病因鉴别、临床表现及处理规范;常见急症辅助检查的选择指征、结果判断及临床意义;常用急救药物的指征、作用、副作用以及具体应用方法(心肺复苏及血管活性药、强心利尿剂、解痉平喘药、止痛药、止血药、抗心律失常药等)。

影 像医 学与 核医学

3个月

呼吸系统、心血管系统、消化系统、神经系统X线和/或 CT和/或 MRI 正常解剖、基本病变表现、常见疾病诊断、鉴别诊断要点。超声正常解剖结构;彩色多普勒超声的基本原理;常见消化系统、心血管系统、泌尿等系统的超声诊断。核医学显像的特点和原理;甲状腺普通显像、全身骨显像、心肌血流灌注显像、肾动态功能显像及肝血池显像的应用和常见病的表现。CT及MRI基本原理及MRI应用;消化道出血血管造影适应证和常见疾病;ERCP及MRCP 常见病变表现;脑血 管 DSA 应用;超声诊 断基础;二维超声、M 型超声心动图、彩色多普勒血流成像(CDFI)、介入超声、腔内超声等;消化道出血显像、脑血流灌注显像、睾丸血池显像及唾液腺显像的原理和应用。

各系统、各种影像检查方法的选择和综合应用;

常见疾病的 X线及CT阅片;常见疾病的 ECT阅片

临 床日常工作要求

经管病床 4—6张,在上级医师指导下,完成病房各项医疗工作。要求病人入院后24小时内完成病历记录,按时书写病程记录。在每一科书写完整病例 1—2份;上午 8 点—10 点跟随上级医师查房,进行病情汇报,上级医师进行提问并加以修正、补充。10 点—12 点在上级医师指导下完成临床工作。

学术活动要求

参加每周举行病例研讨会一次,由实习医生介绍病历,提出初步分析意见,由指导老师组织讨论。每周举行教学查房一次。参加科内的各种学术活动,如专题报告、出院病历讨论、疑难病历讨论、死亡病历讨论等。

备注:总轮转时间不少于 18个月,至少参加三个相关二级学科轮转(内、外科在至少三个相关三级学科轮转),每学科轮转时间不少于 3个月,参加本学科专业的临床技能训练时间不少于 9个月(三个专业方向)

普胸外科:1.胸外科外伤的诊断和处理(肋骨骨折、气胸、血胸等);2.CPR;3.胸外科常见疾病的诊断及手术方法(肺癌、食管癌、纵隔肿瘤等);4.胸外科常用操作――胸穿、胸腔闭式引流等并能熟练应用呼吸机;5.一般胸外科手术――肋骨切除术、胸壁肿块(小)切除术、开胸探查术、(单)肺叶切除术、heller 手术、食管下段癌切除术及胸腔的基本操作;6.普胸外科手术后的处理心血管外科:1.胸外伤的诊断和处理;2.常见心血管疾病的诊断及手术方法(常见先心病、心脏瓣膜病、冠心病和大血管疾病等);3.常用操作――胸穿、心包穿刺、胸腔闭式引流、熟练应用呼吸机等;4.对心血管外科手术后病人的监护和处理(低心排、心律失常、心包填塞、术后出血、肾功能不全、低氧血症、IABP等);5.常规手术操作――熟练开关胸、熟练建立体外循环、ASD、VSD修补、心包剥脱术、心包引流术、大隐静脉采取等。

作为一助或术者参加下列手术:法鲁四联症矫正术、瓣膜替换术(一助)、主动脉-冠状动脉旁路移植术(二助)、主动脉瘤手术(二助)、心包剥脱术(一助)、*心脏移植术及为手术期处理。

拟轮转的相关学科 内科 6个月

心内科三个月(其中普心病房六周,超声心动图、心电图和心导管室各2周。呼吸内科一个月(包括纤支镜室和肺功能室学习)。

(1)培养掌握:熟悉并掌握骨科常用的检查法及常用治疗技术;熟悉骨科常见病的诊断和处理原则;学会以创伤、骨折和脱位为主的常用治疗方法及手术操作;骨外科检查法及常见损伤与疾病的放射学诊断方法。独立处理软组织损伤、手外伤(包括清创术、取皮术、游离植皮术)。独立处理骨折与脱位(包括手法复位、外固定术、切开复位内固定术、外固定架复位固定术)。(2)理论知识:骨外科常见病(如腰椎间盘突出症、颈椎病、膝关节紊乱、髂耻关节病变、骨肉瘤、骨巨细胞瘤、化脓性感染、结核等)的诊断、鉴别诊断,保守和手术治疗的原则。骨外科常规手术的术前准备和术后处理原则。(3)临床基本技能掌握:独立处理软组织损伤、手外伤(包括清创术、取皮术、游离植皮术)。独立处理骨折与脱位(包括手法复位、外固定术、切开复位内固定术、外固定架复位固定术)。培养期间要求在上级医师指导下掌握下列手术的操作:常见骨折的闭合整复和固定、开放性骨折的切开复位及内固定术、复杂创伤的抢救及处理原则、开放手外伤的急诊手术治疗等;参加大型手术不少于 20例。

全面掌握骨科常见疾病的诊断、处理及预后判断。对疑难病例亦有初步分析能力;了解本专业动态及最新进展;掌握本专业某些特殊检查技术并通晓其理论。能基本掌握本专业急诊的处理。
