Statement of Financial Condition

The ride has been bumpy all through. My father is a marginal farmer in one of the most

underdeveloped regions in India with an annual income of approximately a thousand US

dollars. His interest in my education notwithstanding, my father has always found it tough to

 bear the cost of my education from ever since I can remember. He has often relied on loans to

meet the expenses and has had to cut down on his own and my family’s basic subsistence

requirements. Although I have tried hard to keep these financial constraints at bay and focus

on my studies instead, I strongly feel I could have done a great deal better if my family did

not have to grind itself thinking of its wherewithal. At times, I had to hold myself of my

academic indulgences (so to speak) so that I could save a little for my basic books. There

were times when even getting these basic course books became difficult. But I have survived.

And survived well, thanks to the support that my parents have always given me and my belief

that something good eventually has its way, although the negotiation looks impossible. I have

 been able to obtain my undergraduate education from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, one ofthe premier institutes of the country without nursing any financial worries because of a

scholarship granted to me by the institute and small but significant contributions from some

of my friends. I have come far but there is this dream to go further. I am willing to apply

myself with effort and dedication commensurate with the pursuit of graduate studies abroad.

But without financial assistance, this dream looks distant and daunting. I strongly believe that

a waiver would help me focus solely on my studies without being fazed by any digression

 posed by monetary matters.
