ITINERARY

3 Dec Sat - (Day 1) Depart for Vietnam.

4 Dec Sun - (Day 2) Arrive in Saigon. After hotel check-in and lunch we will take a short city tour. Hotel: Caravelle (L/D)

5 Dec Mon - (Day 3) Morning departure for the Me-kong Delta to board a boat in the quaint provincial town of My Tho and then wind our way through the labyrinth of small canals bordered by tiny villages. After viewing the endless fields of rice paddies tended by peasants in their traditional conical-shaped hats we transfer to a sampan for a tour of scenic Thoison Island. We will have lunch on the island and view the unique pottery produced on the island. We finish the day by returning to Saigon for some exploration of Saigon’s markets be-fore dinner. 6 Dec Tue - (Day 4) This morning we head for the famous Cu Chi Tunnel system. We will have lunch in a local restaurant and end the day back in Saigon where we see the local site in-cluding the Notre Dame Cathedral, the old Post Office, the Presidential Palace, the Army Museum & the former location of the US Embassy. 7 Dec Wed - (Day 5) After breakfast and check-out we will tour a lacquer factory to watch craftsmen at work and a stop at one of Saigon’s markets to shop for souve-nirs. This afternoon we fly from Saigon to Da Nang. We commence a short city of Da Nang to include Red Beach and the old China Beach on the way to the hotel. Hotel: Palm Garden (B/L/D)

8 Dec Thur - (Day 6) Today we visit Marble Mountain and for the adventurous, we will climb to the top and see where the VC maintained a secret hospital throughout the war. We will also visit a marble carving shop before touring the ancient city of Hoi An with the Japanese Bridge and the many shops including the famed Silk & Embroidery Guild. Hotel: Palm Garden (B/L/D)

9 Dec Fri - (Day 7) After an early breakfast we depart Da Nang for Hue with stops at the Hai Van Pass, Lang Co and Phu Bai Airfield. We will com-mence a short city tour south of the Perfume River starting at the Phu Cam Canal and ending at the Hue Uni-versity. Hotel: Imperial Hue (B/L/D)

10 Dec Sat -

(Day 8) Today we do a full tour of Hue to include the Imperial Palace, tomb of King Tu Duc, a boat ride on the Perfume River, and visit the Thien Mu pagoda. We will also discuss Tet and the 1968 Battle for Hue. We will also have the opportunity to visit the market before having the evening to enjoy the Hue nightlife. Hotel: Imperial Hue (B/L/Dinner on own)

11 Dec Sun - (Day 9) Morning departure for our drive north to the DMZ with stops in Dong Ha to see the site of Col John Ripley’s heroics and then continue west along Route 9 seeing Camp Carroll, Khe Gia Bridge, the Rockpile, and the Khe Sanh Combat Base site of the siege. Hotel: Imperial Hue (B/L/D)

12 Dec Mon - (Day 10) Morning flight to Hanoi Upon arrival visit the Ethnology Museum, Cultural Museum and Hoa Lo prison (the infamous Hanoi Hilton.) Hotel: Silk Path (B/L/D)

13 Dec Tue - (Day 11) Today we will see the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and his house, the one Pillar pagoda, the Tran Quoc pagoda, the Temple of Literature, and the McCain Monument. Return to hotel for late checkout and departure for airport for an afternoon flight. (B/D)

Dien Bien Phu Vietnam Post Tour Itinerary

Travel back to the epic French gamble in Indochina where the Viet Minh’s siege had dire consequences for the French Foreign Legionnaires, paratroopers and colonial troops. Cost $795 (based on double occupancy) Single Room Supplement $125

Day One: This morning we transfer to Hanoi’s Boi Bai Air-port for the flight to Dien Bien Phu landing at the same airfield the French used during the siege. Upon arrival, we will drive to the Muong Thanh Hotel for check in. After lunch, we begin our exploration of the battlefield with a visit to the Dien Bien Phu Military Museum to familiar-ize ourselves with the siege by studying the course of the battle using maps and sand tables. We continue on to see Hill A-1, Independence Hill, and BGen De Castrie’s bunker. Hotel: Muong Thanh (B/L/D)

Day Two: We start our day with a visit to Noong Nhai village. We con-tinue on to see a tribal village in Him Lam and see some of the northern Vietnamese culture. After lunch, we stop at Pa Khoang Lake and walk the battlefield including the crater from the massive sapper charge used against the French strongpoint Elaine 2. The day culminates with a stop at General Giap’s Command Post. Hotel: Muong Thanh (B/L/D)

Day Three: Our final morning starts with a visit to the Dien Bien Phu Cemetery and the impressive Monument to the Vietnamese victory. We conclude our trip by transfer to the airport for our flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel with some free time after lunch in Hanoi. We check out at and transfer to the airport for an evening departure and arrive in the USA the next morning. Hotel: May De Ville (B/L) Tour price includes:
