Hong Kong staged the first International Dragon Boat Races (IDBR) in

1976 and is widely recognized as the birthplace of modern

international dragon boat racing;

This sport originated in Hong Kong is now practiced in 75

countries/regions;

Featuring exciting dragon boat races in Victoria Harbour, a BeerFest

with live music and non-stop entertainment, Hong Kong Dragon Boat

Carnival is an annual signature sports cum cultural event, attracting

some 5,000 serious paddlers and 160,000 spectators from Hong Kong

and overseas.

A Highlight of 2015 Hong Kong International Dragon

Boat Races - Races for Breast Cancer Survivors

Since the first breast cancer survivors (BCS)

dragon boat team “Abreast in A Boat” was formed

in Canada back in 1996 as part of a programme to

study the impact of exercise on breast cancer

survivors, more and more breast cancer survivors

found themselves benefit from dragon boating, a

sport that provides strenuous upper body activity

in an aesthetically pleasing and socially

supportive environment;

Dragon boating is now practiced by an increasing

number of breast cancer survivors around the

world;

This year, in an effort to further promote the sport

as a means to enhance physical health and social

wellbeing, there will be races specially for the

breast cancer survivors alongside the different

categories of races

A BeerFest will be held alongside throughout the carnival period at UC

Centenary Garden with

Live Entertainment

To enhance the festive ambience during the carnival, there will be:

Roving performances along Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade & at UC Centenary Garden;

Sea entertainment at the racecourse, such as Fancy Dress Race.
