SPOThunt Athens

• SPOThunt Athens is an innovative android application which allows you to move around Athens and discover a variety of spots while playing a fun game. You pick the area you want to go and you get a selection of suggestions. After exploring the place, you have to solve a simple quiz about something you spot there. The more coins you gain, the more choices you unravel. HAVE FUN!!!

SCREEN 1Loading…

In the first screen appears the logo of the game. By tapping the screen the player will be transferred to screen 2 and the main menu of the game.

SCREEN 2Choosing Menu…

Screen number 2 consists of three main buttons : Athens Centre, North Athens and South Athens. By tapping each of the above buttons, the player chooses the place where he wants to start his “quest” in Athens. There are two additional buttons on the lower right end of the screen. An information button ( i ), where you can read the game description, and a settings button ( gear ).

After selecting a section of Athens ( for example Athens Centre ), you will be led to the above screen. There you will be given the chance to choose from a variety of places to visit. The places will appear in the form of buttons representing the logo or the name of theirs.

SCREEN 5Level 1

If you answer the question correctly, you will be awarded with coins. If your answer is wrong you can try again, as many times as you like, but you will get less coins. Each time you reach a certain amount of coins, new destinations will be unlocked.On this fourth screen there will also be buttons which will connect you to social platforms such as Facebook or Foursquare, so you can check in and share your experience with your friends. There is also a button – link to Google maps, so you can always be sure you will find the place easily.

When you choose the place you want to go ( for example Loukoumi at Monastiraki ), a fourth screen will appear. You will be informed of the address and provided with a short description of the place. After you have visited the place, you will be asked to answer a quiz about something you have spotted there

Competition• Wanderlust-> storytelling platform which makes use of

the location database of Foursquare. Intensifies the experience of the narrative. The story itself will tell you were to go next to enjoy the next episode of the story.

• Shadow Cities-> a location-based Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) that takes the urban environment as platform. Neighborhoods and familiar streets part of the game world, combines local, location aware gaming with global web gaming. Every city in the world transforms into a battle arena. For Iphone

• Tripadvisor Athens City Guide-> a personal advisor in your pocket which helps you plan and have the perfect trip

Costumer ValidationSurvey

Conclusion From the information that was gathered by 17 answered questionnaires , which aimed to acquaint Spothunt to the crowd, we came into a conclusion about what people need from an application like ours and if they find Spothunt interesting. The average age of the people quested was 21 years old. The majority of them are university students. 13 of them answered that they use a smartphone with Android software, 3 said that they use the Apple ios and 1 answered that they use another type of software. Concerning the things that an application should provide to the crowd, the majority of the respondents consider the connection with the social media the most important feature of an application, secondary the entertainment and then the information that it provides. As for other characteristics that were considered very important, 5/10 said that they value the price to be the most important, 4/10 chose the velocity, 3/10 the graphic design, 7/10 the data reliability that the application provides and 2/10 the ease of usage. To the question if they have ever used an application like Spothunt, 6/10 answered that they have never used a similar application, whereas 4/10 answered that they have used Foursquare which seems very similar to them. 10/10 persons were interested in the application itself and in downloading it at their smartphones, but 0/10 were willing to pay for it.

Problems that some of the respondents spotted:• “The gaming part should be optional, because if someone is in hurry will not want to play”. • “If I can't solve the quiz I can't learn things about the city?”

• “There's no help for the answers and if I don't know the answer there's no hint to help”
