I am happy to announce the ap-
pointment of Christine Walsh as
Interim Director of Religious
Education for St. Apollinaris Parish. You can read
her introduction of herself in her own words in this
bulletin. The interim appointment will last through
June 30, 2022. Soon we will be beginning a
formal search process for a permanent Director of
Religious Education to start on July 1, 2022. The
first stage of that process will be the formation of
a search committee. There will be regular updates
on that process here in the bulletin.

INSTALLATION OF THE
SECURITY FENCE
Our next big project is to install a
Security Fence. We are planning to build exterior rail-
ings around the parish area and interior railings around
the school area with electrical gates to monitor outsiders
as they enter the building. We are doing what we can to
protect our children and families. We have over 300
children enrolled in our school. Their protection is one
of our top priorities. The project will cost around
$150,000. At the present time we have $130,00
allocated. Please consider making a special donation for
this project. If we raise over the amount, we will be able
to restore the parking lot and remark the stripping.
MASS COUNT During the month of October, the diocese asks each
parish to take a count of the number of people who
attend mass. The ushers will be taking the count
during mass. Last weekend’s count was 897 adults
and 171 children.
KEEPING IT SAFE IN THE
CHURCH PARKING LOT
For everyone's safety please do not enter
through the exit way on the north side of
the church (by the rectory).
The entrance is located on the south side
of the church by the convent. Thank you.

Our Lady to three shepherd children in Fatima,
Portugal in 1917, climaxing with the spectacu-
lar Miracle of the Sun. A perfect film and
message for this "Month of the Rosary".

My name is Christine Walsh and
I am very happy to be the Interim
Director of Religious Education at
St. Apollinaris Parish. I grew up in
Sonoma County and attended St.
Rose School as a child where I also
received my First Holy Commun-
ion. As a family we moved from Santa Rosa to Forest-
ville in west Sonoma County when I was in high
school and I received the Sacrament of Confirmation
at St. Sebastian in Sebastopol. After attending CSU,
Sacramento for my bachelor’s degree, I earned my
multiple subject teaching credential from Saint Mary’s
College of California and taught K-2nd grades at Dan
Mini Elementary in the Vallejo City Unified School
District. After having three children I taught K-8th
grade at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish School in Colusa
for 8 years where I also served as vice principal, lead-
ing the First Holy Communion Sacrament prepara-
tion. While at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish I assisted
with Confirmation and the sacrament of Baptism for
children attending the parish school. I realized how
much I truly enjoyed working with various grade lev-
els during sacrament preparation and pursued my ad-
ministrative credential from Saint Mary’s Col-
lege. Seven years ago I moved to Napa in the month
of October, becoming a parishioner at St. Apollinaris.
My two daughters Erin and Bridget are graduates of
Justin Siena High School and my son Timothy is
enjoying his senior year there as a Brave.
I truly look forward to bringing my personal faith
experience as a parent, teacher, and administrator to
St. Apollinaris Parish and working with the incredibly
dedicated Catechists. May our Lord bless you and
your children as we together celebrate Christ’s
blessings.

October is the Month of the
Rosary and Respect Life Month
Honor both by joining Relevant Radio (1260
AM) in a one-of-a-kind partnership with EWTN and
the Napa Institute for the Rosary for Life this Octo-
ber. Listen to the Family Rosary Across America as
part of this initiative, nightly at 5 PM. With the Su-
preme Court hearing a case that could over-
turn Roe v. Wade, we hope you will pray for an
end to abortion in the United States. You can also
pray on the podcast at your convenience. Prayer
changes people, and people change history!
Join us on Mondays at
7:00 pm in the church
to pray the rosary and ask
for Mary’s intercession.
Mary, Queen of the Rosary, Pray for us.
WCEA/WASC ACCREDITATION
Every six years our school undergoes the process of a dual accreditation from the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and Western Asso-ciation of Schools and Colleges (WASC). During this six year cycle, schools conduct survey data and look at the following areas
A. Assessment of the School’s Catholic Identity
B. Defining the School’s Purpose
C. Organization for Student Learning
D. Data Analysis and Action
E. SLEs and Standards Based Curriculum
F. Instructional Methodology
G. Support for Spiritual, Personal, and Academic Growth
H. Resource Management and Development
These areas help our faculty and staff write a large part
of our Self- Study. After discussions with the School
Council, students, faculty, staff, and parents, our teach-
ers reflect on goals in each of these areas. Goals are
then refined and the top five goals are written as part of
the Action Plan with the top five becoming the critical
goals focused on. The goals that have been identified
from our current Self-Study are
1. Increase opportunities for family involvement in faith formation.
2. Enhance learning opportunities for students scoring in the first and fourth quartiles on STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments.
3. Enhance professional development for teachers.
4. Implementation of an SLE awards program that fo-cuses students on the attainment of SLEs.
5. Implementation of STREAM into the curriculum for TK-eighth grades.
