Cross Border Bioenergy Project

The general objective of this project is to help SMEs to evaluate bioenergy markets in Europe in view of cross-border investments, thereby making SMEs less dependent on fluctuating domestic market conditions and strengthening the whole bioenergy industry.

Five different bioenergy market sectors are considered: 1. biogas, 2. small scale heating, 3. district heating, 4. cogeneration and 5. biofuels for transportation.

For each of the 5 market sectors, criteria/indicators for the market attractiveness are defined by representative companies. A method is worked out to process these criteria, find appropriate indicators, and a comprehensive template is produced. This template is used to collect data in EU27 countries through statistics, enquiries, support schemes, national action plans, etc. Five sector handbooks will be produced. An interactive and flexible Geographic Information System (GIS) will allow visualizing the market attractiveness for investments, coupled with an online database that will provide further useful information (key stakeholders details, legal documents, etc.) for those SMEs that want to go further. A proactive search for business to business (B2B) activity will ensure that SMEs are involved and are using this tool to evaluate markets abroad. Dissemination is focused on bioenergy market players and includes a large conference.

Furthermore information: www.crossborderbioenergy.eu. Objectives and contents of the workshop

The workshop will give an overview of bioenergy use in Europe with an specific focus on cross border investment opportunities for bioenergy industries. During the workshop relevant cross border criteria will be presented, discussed and evaluated. Best practice examples and company profiles make the workshop worth a visit.

The workshops are part of the EU project "Cross Border Bioenergy" ("Intelligent Energy Europe"-IEE/09/933/SI2.558306). Target groups

Bioenergy companies which are interested in investments in production sites, trading companies or subsidiaries as well as any combination of those are the target groups. Workshop language
