    History of STAAD

    STAAD or (STAAD.Pro) is a structural analysis and design computer program originally

    developed by Research Engineers International at orba !inda" #A in year $%%&. In late '"

    Research Engineers International *as bought by +entley Systems.

    An older version called Staad,III -or *indo*s is used by Io*a State niversity -or 

    educational purposes -or civil and structural engineers. Initially it *as used -or D/S,0indo*

    system. The commercial version STAAD.Pro is one o- the most *idely used structural analysis

    and design so-t*are. It supports several steel" concrete and timber design codes. It can ma1e use

    o- various -orms o- analysis -rom the traditional $st order static analysis" 'nd order p,

    delta analysis" geometric nonlinear analysis or a buc1ling analysis. It can also ma1e use o- 

    various -orms o- dynamic analysis -rom modal e2traction to time history and response spectrum

    analysis. In recent years it has become part o- integrated structural analysis and design solutions

    mainly using an e2posed API called /penSTAAD to access and drive the program using a 3+

    macro system included in the application or other by including /penSTAAD -unctionality inapplications that themselves include suitable programmable macro systems. Additionally

    STAAD.Pro has added direct lin1s to applications such as RA4 #onnection and

    STAAD.5oundation to provide engineers *or1ing *ith those applications *hich handle design

     post processing not handled by STAAD.Pro itsel-. Another -orm o- integration supported by
