Cynthia Popper first approached me not long after

she arrived in Tokyo. The first thing we did together was to walk for half a day around some of Tokyo’s backstreets: me showing her how to use her camera better, her listening to my terrible jokes. Despite making a plan to shoot with each other ‘as soon as possible’, it was months before either of us actually had the time. When that time actually came, it also gave me the opportunity to introduce Cynthis to my great friend and muse, Shinyong.

On the day of our shoot, Cynthia and I based ourselves out of Shinyong’s place in Shidome, ending up with a bold shot on the roof. That shot isn’t in this magazine. It doesn’t really fit with the rest of what we did. But deserves special mention, mainly for the fact of Cynthis braving a cold, brisk wind twelve floors up.. in nothing but her best lingerie. A great day, some lovely pics which I am really happy with. A great pleasure to work with such a consummate pro....”
