Comprendre une vido en franais

Vous devez regarder un petit reportage, de 6 minutes, en Franais? Pas de problme! Vous connaissez des astuces pour comprendre facilement une vido en langue trangre :)

Youre about to watch a short film, around 6 minutes, in French.... but don't panic ! Here are some tips which will make easier to understand the video.

Brainstorming (''remue-mninge'')

Avant de regarder la vido, arrtez-vous sur son titre: "Emplettes Saint-Pierre" (Shopping in Saint-Pierre) et rflchissez votre propre exprience :

Before watching the video, refer to the title of the report ("Emplettes Saint-Pierre" / Shopping in Saint-Pierre) and think about your own experience : O faites-vous vos courses? quels sont les noms des diffrents magasins / commerces? et ceux des personnes qui travaillent dans ces commerces (les commerant(e)s)?

Where do you do your shop ? What is the name of the different stores ? and the storekeepers ?

Vous pouvez aussi essayer de chercher des mots et des expressions que vous entendez ou que vous utilisez quand vous faites vos courses (surtout quand vous achetez de la nourriture).

You can also try to think about some specific words and set phrases that you generally hear and/or use when it comes to shopping (especially for food).

Premirement, rpondez ces questions dans votre langue notez des expressions, des mots, des verbes, etc, qui, selon vous, peuvent apparatre dans la vido.

First, answer these questions in your mother tongue. Note some typical shopping words, phrases, verbs, etc. that, according to you, could appear in this shopping video.

Ensuite, essayez de traduire ces mots-cls en franais: peut-tre que vous connaisez des expressions, peut-tre que vous avez besoin de chercher des traductions sur Internet: utilisez un dictionnaire en ligne (Linguee, Larousse... ou un autre).

Then, try to translate all these keywords for shopping in French. Maybe you already know some of them, maybe you'll also need to search a translation on the Web : here are some dictionnaries and web translators you can refer to (Linguee, Larousse, or another one of your choice).

Ainsi, si ces mots sont dans la vido, vous serez dj prpars, prts les entendre, et le reportage sera plus facile comprendre! ;)

Thus, if these words are in the report, you'll be already prepared to hear them and it will be easier to understand the report ! ;)

Plusieurs faons de regarder une vido Several ways to watch a video

Maintenant, il est temps de regarder cette vido! Mais pour vraiment bien comprendre le reportage, nous vous conseillons de regarder la vido 3 fois: Now, it's time to watch the video ! But to really understand the report, we suggest you to watch the video 3 times.

1 : regardez sans le son et essayez de comprendre en vous aidant d'informations simples trouver o se passe le reportage? que font les gens? Faites attention aux gestes des personnes, aux panneaux ( tout ce qui est crit en gnral), etc.

First, turn off the sound of the video : just watch and try to understand whathappens by deduction, referring to some indication like : where do the scenetake place, what do the people do ? the gesture of the persons, the signs andnotice boards, etc.

2 : reprez les diffrentes scnes (il y a 4 scnes dans ce reportage) et, toujours sans le son, essayez de rpondre ces 5 questions: C'est quoi? C'est o? C'est quand? C'est qui? Que se passe-t-il?

Then, spot the different scenes (the report is devided in 4 parts) and, always without the sound, try to answer these famous "5 Wh questions" (for each scene) : "What ? Where ? When ? Who ? Why ?". We also recommend you to start to wonder about the talk (What do the people say ? for instance, what the woman could ask the seller ? what is the name of this product ? etc).

3 : Regardez la vido avec le son et vrifier que vous avez bien tout compris (et si cela est possible, essayez de reprer des expressions franaises, des lments de grammaire, des mots de vocabulaire nouveaux, etc que signifie ce mot / cette expression? Pourquoi cette personne l'utilise?, .)

Finally, watch the video with sound to verify your assumptions to verify your assumptions. (and if you fell able to, go further trying to spot some French linguistic specificities --> what does this word / phrase mean ? why does the person use it ? etc.)
