SUNDAY, APRIL 14Bucks County High School Poet of the Year Reading & Reception  •  2 PM  •  Orangery Celebrate the winners of the 26th annual competition that attracts more than 200 young writers from   across the county. Contest judges and past Bucks County Poet Laureates Lara Adams Gaydos (2012)   and Corie Feiner (2011) read from their works. The Bucks County Poet Laureate Program is  administered by the College’s Department of Language and Literature.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17 Performance Class Recital  •  7:30 PM  •  Presser Room  •  Music & Multimedia Center  A showcase recital for Music Scholarship winners.

THURSDAY, APRIL 18 Vijay Iyer Trio  •  8 PM  •  Gateway Auditorium  In an unprecedented series of wins, Vijay Iyer received top honors in five categories of the 2012 Down   Beat International Critics Poll, including Jazz Artist of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year, Jazz Group of the   Year, Pianist of the Year and Rising Star Composer. Don’t miss this extraordinary night of modern jazz   with Vijay Iyer on piano, Stephan Crump on bass and Marcus Gilmore on drums. Supported in part by   Jacobs Music. 

SATURDAY, APRIL 20Sixth Annual Tyler Gardens & Landscaping Lecture  •  9:30 AM  •  Gateway Auditorium  Drew Becher, president of Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, presents “PHS@185” celebrating the   185th anniversary of PHS and its contribution to horticulture in the Delaware Valley. $15 ($7 for  students with ID)

THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 26 & 27These Shining Lives by Melanie Marnich  •  8 PM  •  Gateway Auditorium  It’s Chicago in the 1920s and Catherine and her friends are dying; but theirs is a story of survival in its  most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their

spirits—or endanger the lives of those who come after them. Admission is $7 students, $10 general, at the door. Reduced-price tickets will be sold during the day April 22–25 in front of the cafeteria.

MONDAY, APRIL 29Chamber Jazz Ensembles  •  7:30 PM  •  Presser Room     •  Music & Multimedia Center  This evening highlights BCCC students in chamber ensembles     performing various jazz standards, blues and more.

THURSDAY, MAY 2 Tree to Form  •  10 AM–2 PM  •  Artmobile (parked across from 3-D Arts Building)  Enjoy an interactive exhibition for all ages in the College’s traveling art museum. Organized in   collaboration with the Center for Art in Wood in Philadelphia, Tree to Form explores the use of wood as a medium for creative expression and features 24 artists who make sculpture, furniture and other objects. BCCC Percussion Ensemble  •  7:30 PM  •  Presser Room  •  Music & Multimedia Center   The Bucks County Community College Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Mark Pultorak,   combines the unique sounds of the percussion instruments and focuses on developing chamber music sensitivity in the performance of a wide spectrum of percussion music, including standard repertory,   popular favorites, recent avant-garde compositions, Brazilian and African drumming.

SATURDAY, MAY 4 Youth Orchestra of Bucks County Open Rehearsal  •  1:30–4 PM  •  Gateway Auditorium  GRAMMY award-winning violinist and composer, Mark O’Connor rehearses his composition The Improvised Violin Concerto with the YOBC Symphony Orchestra. Free and open to the public. Tickets to   the concert, at Patriots Theater at the Trenton War Memorial on Sunday May 5th, may be purchased on   the Patriots Theater website http://www.state.nj.us/state/memorial/index.html.

TUESDAY, MAY 7A Night to Remember: Accounts from the Survivors of the Titanic  •  9:30–10:45 AM  •  Penn Hall   •  Room 253 The BCCC Oral Interpretation class, directed by Douglas Rosentrater, performs a multi-voice readers’ theatre.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 8Film Festival  •  5–6:15 PM  •  Gateway Auditorium The Department of the Arts presents a juried selection of films produced and directed by students. BCCC Concert Choir  •  7:30 PM  •  Presser Room  •  Music & Multimedia Center   Under the direction of Rochelle Reed and accompanied by Edward Ferdinand, the fifty-voice choir   performs Mozart’s “Mass in C, K.259,” Eric Whitacre’s “Cloudburst” and a variety of American and  English music.

THURSDAY, MAY 9 A Preponderance of Pooh: What to Do in the 100-Acre Wood  •  9:30–10:45 AM  •  Penn Hall   •  Room 253 The BCCC Oral Interpretation class, directed by Douglas Rosentrater, performs a multi-voice readers’ theatre. BCCC Jazz Orchestra  •  7:30 PM  •  Presser Room  •  Music & Multimedia Center    The BCCC Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jeff Baumeister, performs big band music from the   Swing Era to Modern Jazz. 

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, MAY 10 & 11Improv Comedy Performance  •  7 PM  •  Gateway Auditorium  BCCC students and alumni perform improvised comedy sketches under the direction of   Bill McLaughlin. Admission is $7.
