对R-PET的需求及⽅案 Demand and Sourcing Plan for R-PET
u Option 1: Purchase dirty flake, clean flake and all other possible forms of PET raw material from all regions globally in order to satisfy our production demand.
u Option 2: Purchase recycled PET bottles domestically in the United States, and process/convert to R-PET bottle flake ourselves.

R-PET 项⺫的计划与现实 R-PET Projects: Plan and Reality
u Example: 2,523,000 Metric Tons (5.56 Billion Pounds) PET bottles consumed
u Incremental Increase: 1.11 billion pounds - this increase alone equals 7 times the amount of raw material used by Sun Fiber annually.
u We are optimistic on U.S. PET recycling potential, and look forward to using 100% domestically recycled PET bottles for our production.
Recycling rate:30% 1.67 billion pounds
Recycling rate:50% 2.78 billion pounds
R-PET 项⺫的计划与现实 R-PET Projects: Plan and Reality
u Sun Recycling: new company, new project, new machinery, but the reality is…
u Why are the bottle recycling (R-PET) operations of both NURRC and Wellman not running?
u There does not exist an economically viable supply of bottles: neither the Carolinas nor the neighboring states have bottle bills (bottle deposit laws).
u Using deposit bottles provides high quality but at a high price, from distant sources meaning high freight costs, with strong competition in the market for these bottles.
u Using curbside (mixed) collection bottles achieves a lower price, but the percentage of PET is low, the quality is poor, and thus processing is difficult and expensive.

Region Recycling Rate Factors and Causes
Asia (China, Japan, etc.)
85% + 1. Public awareness of good recycling habits 2. Relatively low cost of collection due to high population density 3. Economic behavior driven by huge demand
EU (Germany, Norway, etc.)
90%, 95%
1. Clear, strict, and enforced regulation at the federal level ➔ Garbage sorting regulations, bottle bill (EUR 0.25/bottle)
2. Voluntary behavior driven by good environmental awareness among citizens
USA Michigan, California, etc. (10 states w/ bottle bills)
97%, 78% 1. Bottle Bills (bottle deposit laws) 2. Economic behavior driven by legal regulation

u In the current market atmosphere of low prices for oil and petrochemical intermediary products, the economic activity solely of R-PET producers is not enough to incentivize and realize high recycling/recovery rates in the United States.
u At present, government action (law) and cooperation from bottlers are the only effective breakthroughs to increase recycling/recovery rates.
