CIBEX East Africa 2016 ‐ The year of the best
deals for exhibitors
Successful high level infrastructure trade fair took place
from 1st – 3rd March in Kenya

This year’s CIBEX was a high level networking event for the construction and infrastructure
industry. 51 participants from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Kenya,
Madagascar, Poland, Switzerland and UAE showcased their latest products and innovations to the
East African construction industry. Quality talks, arranged business deals and information
exchange through an industry related conference formed the networking event in the Kenyatta
International Convention Centre.
Trade professionals from Germany, Kenya, Tanzania, Oman, South Africa Ethiopia, Germany, Greece,
Italy, India, Kenya, Oman, Philippines, South Africa, Uganda and UAE used CIBEX as business platform
to meet international clients, potential partners and to gather information about new innovations.
1.376 trade professionals, authorities and government representatives visited the show over three
days. Exhibitors have been very satisfied with the quality of the visitors at this year’s edition. The
local dealer SIMBA Corporations Ltd. stated: “The exhibition was a great success. We had great
satisfaction with our stand and its strategic location. We got promising business leads, amazing views
and many requests for quotations from serious customers. This was more than our expectation.”
Official Inauguration
CIBEX East Africa 2016 was officially inaugurated by HE Professor Jacob Kaimenyi, Cabinet Secretary
of the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works and his Excellency Professor
Dr. Paul Mwangi Maringa, Principal Secretary of Ministry of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and
Public Works as well as by HE Jutta Frasch, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya.
HE Professor Kaimenyi appreciated the professional platform for the construction industry and looks
forward to the future of CIBEX. After the opening speeches, dealing with topics like Africa as the new
market for international business and international relationships as well as the construction industry
in detail, all attendees joined an opening round tour through the hall.
International presence in Kenya
For the third time, German companies had the opportunity to attend CIBEX within an official pavilion
supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. Patron of the pavilion
was the German Engineering Association VDMA. Companies like Liebherr, Schaeffler, Scheuerle,
priedemann, Rehau and Gauff took the chance to enter the Kenyan market or to expand their
business in the region.
The Danish manufacturer of road marking machines Borum Industri attended for the first time in
Kenya and is confident to make further steps in the East African market within the coming years.
Lisbeth Knudsen, responsible sales manager for the African region, mentioned about the show:
“CIBEX is an exhibition which has all the potential to become the road construction exhibition in East
Africa.”
CIBEX Conference
Alongside the exhibition, visitors were given the chance to attend a high level conference program
that included presentations from international speakers in fields of Investment and Joint Venture
opportunities, a special schedule for Green Energy, Construction and Building Projects as for example
the LAMU Project. Furthermore the companies Duyara and Knauf PFT arranged a special
architectural symposium on the last show day.
CIBEX East Africa would like to thank all partners, exhibitors and conference speaker for their
