Stator Core and Frame
Frame and end shields are made offabricated steel
Stator frame end parts and the middlepart with the core are welded together
Bearing housings are bolted to theend shields
Stator core is made of punched, stacked, high-grade, low-loss siliconsteel sheets
Sheet thickness is 0.5 mm (insulated onboth sides)

Rotor Rotor is designed to withstand the vibration caused by the prime mover
and stresses appearing up to 120 % of rated speed Critical rotational speed is at least 1.5 times the nominal speed Shaft is made of forged steel Poles are constructed of punched and stacked steel plates Salient poles are bolted to the rotor
Poles are provided withdamper winding
Cooling and supportingof windings byaluminum profiles
Diode bridge is mountedon the exciter rotor hubthat is shrink fitted on tothe shaft

Windings and Insulation MICADUR -Compact Industry (MCI) Insulation System based on Vacuum-
Pressure Impregnation (VPI) VPI-method has been used 20 years and it is well known for its high
reliability - no primary insulation failures on almost 15 000 machinesdelivered
Winding insulation exceeds Class F requirements (temperature limit 155C) Both stator and rotor windings withstand the influence of humidity,
moisture and chemically aggressive substances. Windings are made of form wound copper coils The complete winding and its supporting structures are vacuum pressure
impregnated with epoxy resin which ensures a very robust, solid andmoisture resistant insulation.
Support rings on the winding ends are impregnated together with thewinding
Excellent mechanical strength of the winding Rotor winding are made of insulated enameled rectangular copper as a
multi-layer winding

Terminals The stator line terminals and neutral terminals are situated in the top box
on the top of the generator Excitation transformers are installed in the terminal box The terminals for excitation and control equipment are in auxiliary
terminal box

Direction of Rotation
The generator ends are designed D (drive-end) and N (non- drive-end)in accordance with IEC 34-7
The generator rotates counter-clockwise, when viewed from the D-endto N-end, the generator terminals U, V and W being connected to thenetwork phases L3, L2 and L1 respectively
The direction of rotation is indicated on the generator rating plate.

Cooling The generator is cooled with a shaft mounted fan On standard arrangement the cooling air is drawn in through air
filters, and blown out to the environment

Protection by Enclosure The standard degree of protection is IP 23 or IP 20
(protection against ingress of foreign bodies with diameter of 12 mmand above and harmful effects of spraying water)
In cases where a higher degree of protection is needed, thegenerator can be provided with an air-to-water heat exchangerwhich is mounted on the top of the generator (the degree ofprotection is IP 44, protection against ingress of foreign bodieswith diameter of 1 mm and above and harmful effects of splashingwater)

Balancing and Vibration Dynamic balancing on two planes Balancing is carried out with a half key Balancing grade G6.3 Vibration level of a fully assembled
generator mounted on rigid foundationis below 2.8 mm/s (RMS) with nominalspeed and excitation
Max.allowed vibration level is 20 mm/s(RMS) according to ISO 8528-9(DIN 6280 Teil 11)
Reference measurement is alwaystaken in three directions on thebearings (vertical, transversal andlongitudinal)

Bearings and Lubrication
The generator is provided with split-type sleeve bearings as standard Non-drive end bearing is insulated Bearings are spherically seated to facilitate assembling and maintenance The D-end bearing is designed to carry the loads produced by a coupling
misalignment and the rotor weight

Protection Against Corrosion
Screws washers and all surfaces made of steel sheet, aluminum alloy orcast iron are treated with a method appropriate to each material
Reliable anti-corrosion protection under the most severe environmentalconditions
The standard painting is a two-pack epoxy paint which is moisture andtropic-proof in accordance with DIN 50016
Suitable for outdoor installations, including chemical plants Bearings are treated with an anti corrosion oil film Shaft extension is protected with anti corrosion material that must be
taken away before mounting the coupling
