Ze spreken zeer tot de verbeelding, Dinosaurussen. Mede doordat er veel

boeken en films over hen zijn gemaakt en natuurlijk omdat ze erg groot en snel

waren. In menig jongenskamer kom je wel wat degen over de super dieren.

De dinosauriërs of dinosaurussen (de eerste benaming is de correcte vertaling

van Dinosauria, de wetenschappelijke naam van de groep) vormen een dier-

groep, behorend tot de Archosauria, die stamt uit het Mesozoïcum. De Dinosau-

ria ontstonden ongeveer 230 miljoen jaar geleden in het Trias, als afsplitsing

binnen de ruimere groep van de Dinosauriformes. De eerste dinosauriër was

een kleine tweevoetige vleeseter. Die was de directe voorouder van de twee

hoofdgroepen waarin alle andere dinosauriërs onderverdeeld kunnen worden:

de Saurischia en de Ornithischia. In deze beide groepen ontwikkelden zich al

snel ook plantenetende soorten. Versteende eieren (Fossiel) hebben zeker ook

een geneeskrachtige werking op het menselijk lichaam, zie onderstaand:
