ThesongIchosetofigurativelyrepresentwithfivepictureswas“UnderThe

Bridge”bytheRedHotChiliPeppers.Thelyricsofthissongspeaktomeasawhole

andtellastory.Thestoryisthatoftwofriendswhofallintotheworldofdrugs.The

singer,ormaincharacterinthestory,isaloneafterhisbestfriendhasdied.Ishotall

ofmypicturesinblackandwhitetosetamoodoflonelinessandremorse,andalso

toemphasizethepast.

Thefirstpicturerepresentsthefriendshipbetweenthetwocharactersinthe

beginningofthestory.IwantedtoportraythekindofplacesthatIimaginedthey

wouldinteractwitheachotherinthecityofLosAngeles.Thetwosubjectsleaning

upagainstagraffiticoveredwall,representsthegrungyareastheymighthavehung

outin,suchascitystreetsandalleyways.

Thesecondpictureportraysthedeepstrugglewithdrugsthatthetwo

charactersfallinto.Iplayedaroundwithvariouscolorsettingsandadjusted

brightness/contrastinordertobetterportraytheoverallmood.Thispictureis

supposedtorepresent“thatday”inwhichthesingerreferstowhensaying“Idon’t

wannaeverfeel,likeIdidthatday.”

Thethirdandfourthpicturesportraythesingerashedealswiththe

lonelinessafterlosinghisclosestfriend.Inthirdpicture,Ihavethesubjectwalking

aloneandunderabridge,adirectreferencetothesonglyrics,helpingtotiethe

picturestothesong’smessageevenbetter.Thefourthpictureisareferencetothe

firstpictureexceptthistimethedeadfriendisshowninspiritasthemaincharacter

reflectsonhispast.

Inthelyricsofthesonghesings,“It’shardtobelievethatthere’snobodyout

there…It’shardtobelievethatI’mallalone.”Inthefinalpictureoftheseries,I

wantedtoshowhow,withouthisfriend,thecityseemsasemptyandlonelyasheis.

Thelyric“LonelyasIam,togetherwecry”stronglystandsforthispicture’s

message.
