KOREA 대한민국
My past photos are of the beautiful land of Korea. From September 2012 to March 2014 I had the privelage to live in and serve the wonderful people of Korea.
I did not have much photography experience, actually none, at this time. I had a small point and shoot Sony digital camera that I carried around with me everywhere. These photos cannot describe the beauty I saw there. I hope one day to go back with my new Canon camera and capture newer, more beautiful photos.
LIGHTROOM
I really liked this activity. I finally felt like I was understanding how to use my camera.
I walked around campus a lot to find objects to shoot. The picture on the left was taken in the greenhouse and the picture on the left was taken by the library. I finally called my friend Mark and asked if he would help me out with this assignment. He is 6’2” volleyball player so I wanted to capture him in the air. In order to get the frozen motion I used a very fast shutter speed. This turned out to be the best one.

Flora & Fauna
This is the first assignment that we had in class. I wanted to do really well so I spent several hours looking around campus and even some spots of Rexburg for the color red. I came across the normal red objects like stop signs and cars, which I did take pictures of, but it was these three pictures that I thought turned out really well.
The photo on the left was taken on campus in the gardens. I used a low aperture setting to get the blur in the background and a small area of focus in the foreground. It is one of my favorite photos I have taken all semester. I also used low aperture settings for the other two photos.

Enhancements
I thought that this editing assignment was very difficult. I had a hard time choosing the pictures I wanted to enhance and use. So I used a lot of different settings and people as my subjects for this assingment.
The two women on the top left were a mom and daughter. The daughter was there watching her kids. My friend and I thought they looked great and asked if we could get a few candid shots of them. The lighting wasn’t good so on Photoshop I took the color from another picture I took that day and used it for this picture.
The picture on the top right is of my roommate. I wanted to get her in the sunset lighting so I wouldn’t have to use reflectors. I changed the levels on Photoshop, smoothed out her skin, and got rid of blemishes.
Bannock was a wonderful trip. This is where I finally feel like I started to learn more about the rules of photography and more about my camera. I switched to manual mode and played with the settings all day in different types of lighting until I got it right. I took over 900 photos in order to get my best shots.
We had people willing to help and teach each other and great models to shoot. I learned so many different techniques. I also got to use a lot of equipment that I have never used before. I believe that I improved a lot after this trip. And had a lot of fun too. Bannock is a beautiful place and I am glad I got the opportunity to go there.

Perspective of Twelve
This ended up being my favorite assignment. When it was first assigned to us I started to worry because I had no idea what I was going to do. Then I went to the Piano Guys concert the weekend before it was due and my mom suggested that I take pictures of a piano. So I tried to find the prettiest piano on campus. This piano is on the thired floor of the Manwaring Center.
I tried to get as many different angles as possible. I took pictures inside the piano, from below and above, and from the side. I changed the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO to get different lighting and views of the piano. I took a lot of pictures and these ended up being some of the best.

I am new to photography, but I want to continue to improve my skills. By doing so, I can capture moments and memories for myself and for others forever.
