    CHERNOBYL HISTORY

On April 26, 1986 at Chernobyl Nuclear

Power Plant a steam blew a reactor apart

releasing radioactive gases. This cause a blaze

for ten days in spite all the effort to put the

blaze. Approximately 500,000 persons have to

leave their homes due the radiation hazard

from the plant that was not healthy for them.

    IMPACT AREA OF CHERNOBYL

125,000 square miles of land in Belarus, Russia and

Ukraine were affected by this explosion.

About 40% of the contaminated area was used for

    agriculture.

Contamination of the soil by radio nucleotides with

long half-lives such as cesium-137 is a particular

problem for the local residents near the Chernobyl

    Nuclear Reactor

    JAMAICA EXPLOSION

In September 2008 there was a bauxite

explosion at one of our major plants

called ALPART. Luckily no one wasinjured. Residents complained of skin

burning. It was stated in the observer

that released bauxite dust and otherchemicals into the air.

    CONCLUSION

    The Chernobyl nuclear power plant

exploded in April 1986. this has impacted

greatly on the countries affected by it. This

has caused approximately 2000 persons to

die and thousand has to vacate as this has

cause health effects in adults, children and

    the environment.
