acknowledged Success: ERO
We are the only school in the Te Puke catchment on a 4-5 year review cycle. Only the top 20% of schools in NZ achieve this.
Our Results are Excellent: Student achievement information shows that the vast majority of students are achieving at or above National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics. Many students are achieving well above expectations.
Our Maori Students are doing well: The school holds high expectations for all students’ success in learning. Māori students are achieving success in their learning with a majority achieving at or above National Standards in reading, writing and mathematics.

School Culture
A school with high expectations for behaviour allows students and teachers to focus on learning
Te Ranga’s rural feel and sense of whanaungatanga allows individuals to develop social skills, self awareness and self confidence at a realistic pace, free of many of the negative aspects of peer pressure
The Benefit of Continuity
Children’s education should be as seamless as possible – a full primary provides a smooth transition of learning and progress from Year 1 to 8.
We closely liaise with Te Puke High School to ensure that our students are placed appropriately in Year 9 classes. This has had a very positive effect on reducing the uncertainty and anxiety involved with moving from a smaller school environment to a larger one. This year all of the year 8 pupils were trialled in the High School Enrichment programme.
The Benefit of ContinuityEducational research proclaims...
“Studies have shown that children experience a drop in attainment their first year of secondary school. Students who make two transitions to an intermediate and then a secondary school, appear to experience the achievement drop twice (Anspaugh,1998).
School transitions can be challenging. Anecdotal evidence indicates that many students are better resourced to cope with this challenge at 13 rather than 11
Benefits of a smaller School
Good student to teacher ratios (mostly:-) ) 4 of our 5 classes are under 25 students
Our students are well known to all staff parents and each other. Our students are not lost in a big pool- they are significant.
Accessibility and approachability of staff
