decided to try

King treated the old soldier

opened their drawers and boxes

took out their good gowns

I feel uneasy

clapped her hands

a secret door opened

The old women gave the old

soldier a coat, and said,

“When you wear this coat,

you will become invisible.

You will be able to follow the

princesses.”

When the old soldier heard

this, he decided to try.

He went to the King and said

he will try.

The King treated the old

soldier very good.

He gave him nice clothes to

wear.

He took him to the room next

to the princesses.

When he was ready to lie

down to sleep, the oldest

princess brought him a cup

of wine.

After the princess left, the

old soldier threw the wine

away.

He fell asleep and began to

snore very loudly.

He was not really asleep.

When the twelve princesses

heard him snoring, they

laughed.

The oldest princess said,

“This old soldier is not

cleaver.”

They opened their drawers

and boxes.

They took out their good

gowns, and dressed

themselves.

The youngest said, “I feel

uneasy. I think something

bad will happen.”

“You think to much,” said the

oldest princess, “you are

always afraid. No one has

found the place where we

dance.”

When they were all ready,

they looked at the old

soldier.

The old soldier snored loudly.

The princesses thought they

were safe.

The oldest princess clapped

her hands and a secret door

opened.

The old soldier saw them

going through the secret

door.

The old soldier jumped up,

put on the magic coat.

He followed them.

When they were leaving, the

invisible soldier stepped on

the gown of the youngest

princess.

She cried out to the other

princesses, “Someone

stepped on my gown.”

“You think to much!”, said

the oldest princess. “It is

only a nail”.
